I'm at a Bernie Sanders debate-watching party. I'll be sharing my reactions and those of the crowd around me.
Where are you and what are your reactions? Share your thoughts, observations, etc., below, in our comments section.

Forgot to mention… I saw a police officer I know at the debate. So apparently not EVERY police officer is worried about the “Ferguson effect.”

I talked to a woman I know at the Bernie event. She called Clinton “Empress Hillary” and said the moderators “should be shot.”
There were a lot of big Bernie supporters there but I got the sense that everybody was open to voting for Hillary or at least most.

I met Bernie 35 years ago and he’s just as passionate today as ever, so I’m obviously biased towards him, but I could support her.

May the force be with you. HRC’s closing line

HRC closes with “May the force be with you.”
Got good laughs.
Got good laughs.

HRC I know how important it is that we have a Democrat succeed President Obama in the WH.

O’Malley got applause for his closing statement, below.

MOM: You heard a lot of anger and you heard a lot of fear from the GOP candidates but anger and fear never built America.

“On our worst day, we have a lot more to offer than the Right-wing extremists.” Bernie

Jonathan Karl just noted that there has not been a single tweet from Donald Trump during the debate, despite all the criticism.

Bernie takes a moment to congratulate HRC for doing an outstanding job as FLOTUS and “redefining what that role could be.”

Martha Raddatz asks if it’s time to change the role of First Spouse.
HRC says each FLOTUS has put her own stamp on the role. “So whoever is part of the family of a president has an extraordinary privilege… making her or making his contribution.”
HRC I am probably still gonna pick the flowers and the china for state dinners but I am still gonna turn to him for advice.

HRC: I know we offered a lot of help and it was difficult for the Libyans to accept help.
BS: The Secretary’s right, this is a terribly complicated situation and there are no simple solutions. …The truth is, it is relatively easy for a powerful nation like America to overthrow a dictator but it is very hard to predict the unintended consequences and turmoil that ensues later.
HRC hits BS for voting for a resolution in the senate ending Qaddafi regime.

Erich, I’d gladly vote for any of these Democrats and, since I’m not a registered Dem, I’m somewhat agnostic on who gets the nom, but I think as a practical matter, your niece is right. I don’t think Bernie will win and I’m totally happy to vote for Hillary.

Martha Raddatz asking HRC how much responsibility she bears “for the chaos” in Libya after removing Qaddafi.

RE: not derailing HRC… At Thaksgiving dinner, I spoke with my 23 yr old niece, active volunteer for Hillary. When I told her my passion for Bern, her response was telling: “He’s like a summer romance. Great while it lasts, but IT TAKES TOO MUCH OF A COMMITMENT TO MAKE IT LAST INTO THE REAL WORLD.”

Bernie: Today in America, we have more people in jail than any other country on earth. We spend $80 million a year locking up our fellow Americans.

During the break, the gentleman next to me said he was disappointed Bernie didn’t do something to derail HRC but hopes that a) people will vote for her and b) she will pick up enough of his policies.

However, the real question is about bridging the divide between police and African American community.
HRC says in many communities police are already bridging the divide.

Agree, Erich. This room has at least 50 people and it’s been pretty quiet as everybody pays attention. Very little chitchat or even comments.

There have been a few times I wanted to comment, but because these people actually have something to say, I haven’t wanted to distract myself from the candidates’ statements. Good discussion tonight.

Bernie says ACA is “a step forward” but bottom line is “Why is it the United States of America is the only major country on earth that does not guarantee health care to all people as a right?” Also notes we spend more than UK and France which also often get better outcomes.
Bernie cites insurance co lobbies as one reason and calls for Medicare for all.
Martha Raddatz hits him for not offering details, he says he has because if individuals and groups don’t have to pay commercial insurance, the middle class will save.

HRC offers tax credit to offset out of pocket medical costs, wants Medicare to negotiate prices and making sure insurance agencies are “properly regulated so that we are not being gamed.” She also says we don’t have enough competition and we don’t have enough oversight of insurance companies right now.
HRC rightly says that one reason costs have gone up so much is because red states did not extend Medicaid.

Bernie going after Bill Clinton’s de-regulation of banks.
And I’m betting Fox News will pick up this line of discussion stat!

Ack, can’t get into OpenSecrets.org from this room.
I’m sure some of the professional fact checkers will do the job so I don’t have to. :)

Fact checking HRC’s claim about corporate donations.

O’Malley: HRC tried to hide her “cozy relationship” with the banks and Wall Street by evoking 9/11.

Bernie: I don’t think I’m gonna get a whole lot of donations from corporate America.
