Jon Stewart addressed Rupert Murdoch’s lust for Time Warner last night and came up with a comedic, albeit apparently fictional, solution: a Kickstarter campaign to buy CNN.
Stewart threw some good jabs at Murdoch: “If he buys Time Warner, news will just be s*** Rupert Murdoch thinks” and “He’s like the date rapist of media barons.”
As the lower-third banner read, “LETSBUYCNN.COM,” Stewart offered some comic inducements for donations:
$10,000 lands you in a CNN mass-shooting six box
For $5 million, you get a 24 hour, two-week hunt for your lost car keys.
Salon.com reports that while the “letsbuycnn.com” url exists, there does not seem to be a real Kickstarter campaign affiliated with it.
