In his second-to-last show, Jon Stewart wistfully acknowledged that many of the entities he was reported to “eviscerate” or “annihilate” or “crush” are going along as strong as ever. That includes Fox News.
Stewart opened by displaying a screenful of headlines praising his destructive prowess. Then, in a funny follow up, Stewart had to acknowledge that it wasn’t quite true.
From Crooks and Liars:
ISIS is still going strong. Racism is still alive and well. One lousy banker has gone to jail for the excesses of Wall Street, and not only is Fox “news” still on the air, they’re running the first GOP debate and their influence “has gone all the way to the White House.”
But we know that Stewart has landed some serious blows against his targets. Otherwise, President Obama would not have summoned him to the White House twice. And Fox News would not have been fuming over it.

And this too…
“Stewart’s VA coverage topped the IRS and other entries in a viewer’s choice poll, selected as the show’s “favorite federal takedown” as part of a career-in-review special. It also made Rolling Stone’s list of the host’s top targets."
