John McCain visited Your World where a discussion about a possible ISIS threat at the southern border turned into a discussion about the national security bona fides of the Republican potential 2016 presidential candidates. In short, McCain seemed unimpressed with all of them, especially Rand Paul’s. So host Neil Cavuto set up questions in a seeming attempt to suggest McCain should run again, himself.

Cavuto repeatedly highlighted the lack of national security credentials of the Republican field. Finally, Cavuto said flat out, “Senator, you have that expertise now. If they don’t measure up, …I mean you’re a spry seventy something, what would you do?”

“Well as I mentioned to you on another show, pale, rested, ready,” McCain said.

Cavuto laughed. “I thought I could get that in there, but you were one step ahead of me.” He closed the segment with an admiring, “John McCain in our nation’s capital. He does speak his mind.”

Only a Fox News anchor would suggest a candidate should run for president this way.
