GOP Wife: Assaulted Reporter 'Got A Little Bit Of Montana Justice'

Fox News contributor Rachel Campos-Duffy, the wife of Republican Congressman Sean Duffy, apparently thinks it’s just fine for fellow Republican Greg Gianforte to physically assault a reporter.

Campos-Duffy’s shocking remark – which none of the three other Fox pundits in the segment challenged – came during a discussion about then-candidate Gianforte’s assault on Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs on the eve of a special election. Gianforte subsequently won that election.

Host Eric Bolling kicked off the discussion by complaining about pundits blaming Donald Trump’s violent, anti-media rhetoric as having set the stage for Gianforte’s assault. Ignoring the point, Bolling whined, “The man was 5000 miles away in Europe.”

Then, as if Fox has not blamed President Obama for events he was nowhere near, Bolling had the audacity to say, “Stop treating Trump differently. He’s the Commander-in-Chief. Respect the man or the very least muster up the character to respect the office. Now is a good time to start.”

That’s even more ironic, given what Bolling has said about President Obama while he was in office:

BOLLING: So what's with all the hoods in the hizzy? A month after the White House hosted the rapper Common, who glorifies violence on cops, the president opened his doors to one of Africa's most evil dictators.

Not surprisingly, not one of the other pundits pointed out the hypocrisy.

Instead, the two guests gleefully attacked Jacobs.

Fox News contributor Rob O’Neill, a former Navy SEAL, mocked Jacobs and called the assault “kinda funny”:

O’NEILL: Apparently, this snowflake reporter invaded Gianforte’s safe space and we have a saying up there. You mess around, you mess around, you might not be around.

[…]

I’m not condoning the body slam. I think it’s kinda funny, based on my history. You try to mess with it, sometimes you get the bull’s horns in Montana.

Even worse, Fox News contributor Rachel Campos-Duffy, married to Republican Congressman Sean Duffy - suggested Jacobs deserved the assault.

CAMPOS-DUFFY: This guy was not a reporter looking for a fair story. He was obviously doing a takedown on him and so this guy’s got his back up, he got a little bit of Montana justice.

Fox's own Alicia Acuna witnessed the incident and reported about it on FoxNews.com. She wrote, "To be clear, at no point did any of us who witnessed this assault see Jacobs show any form of physical aggression toward Gianforte."

Nobody brought that up.

Bolling seemed to want to distance himself when he noted that his “whole issue” is Trump should not get blamed for the assault.

But when it comes to attacking the media and/or anyone who is perceived as hostile to Republicans, the Fox contributors went above and beyond the call of duty.

And nobody uttered a peep of objection.

Watch the pundits justify assault below, from the May 25, 2017 The Fox News Specialists.

Not ‘extremist’ at all, Eyes On – realist is much more like it. Every time someone normalises Trump’s behaviour, passes it off as ‘just the showman coming out’, someone else should be there to get their thinking back on the rails.

This abomination of a man is hell-bent on destroying the America you (and the rest of us) have always loved, and he must be disposed of (not by gun, Ellen) along with the whole cancerous crew that have enabled this nightmare.

If the tree of liberty has to be watered, let it be with the tears of cheats, frauds and self-serving charlatans.

@doors 17. I was thinking the same thing. Reporters following GOPiggy politicians may need to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights.

I keep pointing out the GOP has turned neo-fascist and I naturally get a lot of pushback as being an extremist. However Trump’s rhetoric of rabid nationalism, paranoid anti-immigrant nativism, raging anger against a free press/free thought, and encouragement of violence against protesters/msm are manifesting itself as illustrated in this segment.

The idea of a Kristallnacht in America was unthinkable until the rise of the rabid right fed with a head full of nonsense and bile by Fox News. And certainly I’m not talking anti-Semitism here. But imagine Fox News outing many small businesses – say some franchise restaurant chains- as being liberal bogeymen like George Soros. Who on Fox would oppose a night where Trump’s right-wing fanboys defaced them with ‘make America great again’ graffiti or smashed their windows?

Trump, a Fox News creation, represents the worst of America and his base is acting out to match.

I wonder what this Real World reality show actress would say if I didn’t like what her Real World reality show actor turned Congressman got a little Brooklyn justice from me if I didn’t like what he had to say to me. I bet she would singing a different tune.

By the way, she also failed a tryout on The View. You now that show, the one that Faux believes every liberal watches and quotes.

If someone was to grab her crotch, would she also consider that GOP justice?

Watching her on that show, she is obviously trying to outsnark the other ladies and one “lucky” guy. She wants to be asked back. I bet her congressman husband watches her proudly and says “That’s my girl!”

I hope I got another Christian Mother training manual than this lady (I had watched her on The View being the Conservative Christian mother role model). I don’t want to teach my kids it is OK to hit people if you lose your temper.

I wonder what she would think about the Stand your Ground law for a reporter to shoot a politician for psychically attacking them?

My guess would be she wouldn’t be romanticizing the Old West.

This foolish bimbette would sing a different tune if Greg Gianforte had body slammed a Fox “News” reporter. This broad would call for his removal from office. Dumb broad.

The washed up gossip bag Slimebaugh was trying to sound so macho on his radio show about his hero Gianforte. This from the 2nd string kicker on his JV football team. Of course the typical “female” callers to Limbaugh sound like they’re on their third drink and second pack of cigarettes and I’m sure are orgasmic at Limpy’s "manhood.’
