For those of you not familiar with the story of the trillion dollar coin, here’s a very concise overview of why the idea is being considered. When you’re finished, you’ll understand exactly why the GOP is terrified of the coin being minted, even to the point of creating a bill trying to stop that from happening. Fox is contributing to the discussion by expecting their viewers to believe that such a coin would be made out of a trillion dollars of platinum, and weigh roughly 17,774 tons. Or, as Fox quaintly also put it, equal in weight to 89 blue whales. Or a ballistic missile submarine.
Does Fox really think we’re that stupid? Or are they that stupid that they actually believe this hype?

UPDATE: The U.S. Treasury says it will not issue the coin.
He’s fun for a laugh occasionally but someone so delusional is a lost cause.
Anyway, Steve Doocy is fantastically good at making weird comments (idi-oo-cies"). My latest favorite is almost as good as Bill O’Reilly’s comment on the tides: Steve said one day, referring to the singularity of the date 12-21-12: “I wonder how the Mayans chose that particular date”. The fact that the other two people on the couch almost jumped out of their skins suggests that they’re not entirely brain-dead, yet.
Hey Peter: what do I do with my collection of bits and pieces of Ningi? I thought it was like in olden Roman days when “change” was made by cutting up the coins and weighing them.
I will search for the segment in its entirety…
How’s that working out for you, huh? Find it on foxnews.com? Youtube? Hulu? Watch sites? No, the full segment is nowhere to be found online?
Yet, you expect me to magically pull it out of my ass just for you, and if I don’t, you get to baselessly call me a liar again.
You provide the segment, since you’re so concerned about it. In the meantime, you can address the assumptions, lies and selective memories you put out trying to justify this “liar” bullshit… or you can shut the fuck up. Those are your only two options at this point.
Folks, it’s time to leave Josh to ride on this merry-go-round by himself . . .
.
Here is Aria’s statement again.
“Fox is contributing to the discussion by expecting their viewers to believe that such a coin would be made out of a trillion dollars of platinum, and weigh roughly 17,774 tons.”
Judging by your previous comment, you as we’ll have not seen the segment in its entirety yet you feel you can publish a blanket claim based on a ten second clip that has no context. You guys watch Fox News 24/7… Maybe you can enlighten me as to what the conversation was that pertained to the graphic.
So, if it was meant as a joke, it was placed there to humiliate his guest, who got interrupted for this tripe. Don’t tell me Cavuto wouldn’t know how this would get received.
If it wasn’t meant as a joke, Cavuto inserted the talking point as a graphic, expecting it to take with the viewers, and knowing that apologists like Joshua will make excuses for him.
Ok, I’m out on this thread. Play nice, Ya’ll.
No, Aria, here is the topic in your own words…
“Fox is contributing to the discussion by expecting their viewers to believe that such a coin would be made out of a trillion dollars of platinum, and weigh roughly 17,774 tons.”
This is not true.
I wish he’d just admit he doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about and move on.
Because the topic was Fox News putting up BS like this- whether you think it’s a joke or not, Joshua. The links I put up made an almost airtight case for the coin’s use as a way to sidestep Boehner between them. thought I’d add that, since your comment just passed through the filter.
Now… have a nice day. I’m through with you.
Mark: To answer you seriously on the TV thing… I have a very, very kiddie sounding speaking voice. Instant defeat for anything that requires more speaking than the top of the hour announcements on music blocks.
That graphic was put up in humor.
Robert Urban replied to this point by saying:
So you are now saying the WHOLE SEGMENT was reported as humor? Because why would they Chyron asinine graphics while a supposedly serious commentator, they invited, speaks on camera? You are saying that they used and belittled what he was talking about so they could show some graphics as a joke as this invited guest says whats on his mind, and what he has to say as irrelevant as he was only there to be used as the butt of a joke. Please tell this speaker that he was brought on to be used as the CIRCUS CLOWN you feel he was used as.
Joshua Hateway said:
…I knew that was a video. I just wondered where one was on my first post to be funny.
All the questions Joshua was asked, that’s his reply. That he knew all along the “graphic” was a video. And yet again lying about what he commented. I think it’s safe to say he’s done on this thread. Just ignore him until he gets tired or sees something shiny.
Also, is anyone else suddenly reminded of Bob? I mean, Joshua’s line has always sounded like Bob’s sock puppets, but this thread… he doesn’t even sound like the puppets, he sounds like Bob.
Secondly, this site is always maligning Fox News for being one sided with no dissenting views. Sally Kohn is just one example that views expressed by Fox employees are not homogenous.
Thirdly, the “trillion dollar coin” idea is not happening, so arguing about it is nonsense.

But I don’t like you implying that I’m a liar, so I’m going to have to step in here.
On this article alone, you demanded a video, proving that you didn’t click on the “graphic” to see that one was provided. But after busting yourself on your inability to do even that, you presumed to know Fox News’ intentions- Twice.
Which is why I doubt that you clicked either link, or watched one segment Fox News did about the coin- because if you had, you would have seen that economic scholars dismissed the idea as silly on it’s face, but a good idea for how to prevent another Boehner led hostage strategy. That is actually it’s stated purpose:
If the Republicans try to hold the debt ceiling raise — and by consequence the American economy — as a hostage in their war on government services, the trillion-dollar coin is a way to get around the vote entirely
It serves no purpose other than to stop the Repulican’s hostage strategy in it’s tracks. And don’t kid yourself- They are playing that game again:

There’s four sources- If you wanna cry about bias to get out of reading them, I can link up more. The mere fact that I have to tell you this is why everyone’s commenting on how you look even more unwilling to prove you can read, let alone reflect than usual.
If you don’t like being referred to as an illiterate idiot that doesn’t know anything Fox News doesn’t want him to know, how about you start trying to act like you’re anything else?
