Fox Interrupts Its Super Tuesday Coverage To Warmonger Against Iran And Endorse Romney

Posted by Ellen -7842.60pc on March 07, 2012 · Flag

“Fair and balanced” Fox News trotted out Fox News contributor Ambassador John Bolton – smack dab in the middle of its Super Tuesday Republican primary coverage – for a little war mongering against Iran, a little bashing of President Obama on the same subject and an endorsement of Mitt Romney as the best candidate for going to war dealing with Iran.

I’m sure it was just a coincidence that Fox felt the need to interrupt its own programming on the very same day that President Obama blasted the Republican candidates for their “casual” warmongering against Iran. It was even more coincidental that Fox chose its warmonger-in-chief John Bolton as the go-to analyst. Also, it just so happens that Bolton had previously endorsed Romney – right there on Fox News. When host Megyn Kelly asked "Bomb Iran Already" Bolton if he saw “a material difference” between Romney, Santorum and Gingrich on Iran, that must have slipped her mind. Kelly's question was almost certainly out of genuine curiosity and had nothing to do with the fact that, as Politico reported, “high-profile Republicans are beginning to call for the curtain to fall on the brutal and brutish presidential primary.”

So after attacking Obama as “unprofessional” and “unpresidential,” Bolton told Kelly that Romney’s “executive experience, I think, really qualifies him to sit behind the big desk in the Oval Office. When these hard decisions have to be made, that is really the test for me.”

While Kelly may not have predicted Bolton's answer, I'll bet anyone else with a lick of familiarity with Fox News personalities and Republican politics saw it coming a mile away.

All in the guise of objective reporting on Fox.

@Kelstar: “The President suggested accountability for their rhetoric and Fox went into deflection mode.”

“Accountability” — as much as the rightwing likes to preach about “personal responsibility”, they practice damn little of it {witness their current blaming of Obama for the Fluke controversy.}

And that word, “accountability”, is like kryptonite to them . . .

TRANSLATION: I want somebody WHITE with “executive experience” sitting in the Oval Office.

And, I’m gonna keep asking this question every time the Talking Toilet Brush opens his mouth: why is Bolton not in Gitmo wearing an orange jumpsuit?

From his wiki:

Bolton has long spoken in favor of the People’s Mujahedin of Iran (also known as the Mujahedin-e Khalq, or MEK), “an armed Islamic group with Marxist leanings” which has long been on the U.S. State Department list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations.According to the State Department, the MEK “[f]ollow[s] a philosophy that mixes Marxism and Islam.” In the 1970s, MEK members, who “had been trained by the Soviet Union in guerilla warfare and supported Khomeini . . . assassinated U.S. military officers then working in Iran. MEK members actively took part in the 1979 seizure of the U.S. embassy in Tehran, according to a U.S. government report.”

On January 25, 2011, Bolton drew a standing ovation at a Brussels conference in support of the MEK, giving a speech in which he “backed MEK’s legitimacy, and the notion of removing it from the list of terrorist organizations.” Georgetown law professor David D. Cole has pointed out that “the United States government has labeled the Mujahedeen Khalq a ‘foreign terrorist organization,’ making it a crime to provide it, directly or indirectly, with any material support [including] engag[ing] in public advocacy to challenge a group’s ‘terrorist’ designation,” under the Supreme Court’s 2010 decision in Holder v. Humanitarian Law Project.

What does Iran have to do with a Republican primary? Nothing, unless you're Fox News.
