Greg Abbott’s invitation to Ted Nugent to campaign with him has raised quite a few eyebrows. But not on Fox News. They didn’t even bother to report it.
In case you missed it, Nugent recently called President Obama “a Chicago, communist- raised, communist-educated, communist-nurtured, subhuman mongrel.” It’s not only offensive on its face, the term “subhuman mongrel” was used by Nazis to describe Jews and justify genocide.
Not surprisingly, Abbott has faced criticism for inviting Nugent to campaign with him. The Dallas Morning News reported that Abbott’s opponent, Wendy Davis, has cited Abbott’s recent campaign partner in her fundraising and Abbott is ducking questions about Nugent from reporters.
Yesterday, Media Matters did the math and produced a chart showing how much time the cable news channels devoted to Nugent campaigning with Abbott. CNN devoted 37 minutes and 24 seconds of largely negative airtime to the story. MSNBC devoted 13 minutes and 48 seconds. But Fox didn’t bother to devote a second.
If anyone even remotely as inflammatory as Nugent were campaigning with Davis, Fox would probably be covering the matter 24/7 – and complaining if other networks were not.
Below is a February, 2014 CNN report about Nugent's "subhuman mongrel" comments.
“Private Poopypants” is the ABSOLUTE AND PERFECT nickname for Ted Nugent, because mark my words: the instant Nugent is shot at in a combat zone or has a bomb or an RPG explode near him, HE WOULD INSTANTLY S**T IN HIS PANTS AND DIG A FOXHOLE DEEP ENOUGH TO REACH CHINA!
And the idiots in the room with him cheer him as if he’s some war hero “fighting” for America.
