Fox’s Your World found just the kind of African American Democrat it loves: One who dissed Black Lives Matter protesters and wants “to do everything we can” to shut down Planned Parenthood.
Bill Patmon, an Ohio state representative, was introduced on Your World as someone who’s causing “a big storm, not from the right. This guy’s coming from the left.”
Neil Cavuto played a clip of "YouTube sensation" Patmon saying, “You hear a lot of demonstrations across the country now about ‘Black Lives Matter.’ Well they skipped one place. They should be in front of Planned Parenthood.”
“Do you think Planned Parenthood should be shut down?” Cavuto asked as his first question to Patmon.
”Absolutely,” Patmon replied, “and we’re going to do everything we can to shut them down."
Then Patmon echoed Sarah Palin as he hinted that Planned Parenthood is targeting minorities. He said, "Even before the scandal came out about the body parts, here’s a group that says they’re working for women’s health, yet still we have the highest mortality rate among black babies, the highest age rate in the black community, and the most abortions per capita in that community. What kind of work are they really, truly doing?”
Cavuto asked Patmon to respond to Democrats who are framing the debate as a “modern day war on women again.”
”I would refer to them to the half of the abortions that actually are little girls,” Patmon answered. “Again, this is something that needs to stop.”
Later, Cavuto asked, “Do you think this is criminal behavior going on here?” Cavuto also suggested – without proof – that Planned Parenthood is spending federal funds on abortion despite the prohibition from doing so.
”I’ve not seen anything this gruesome since I was a kid watching a Frankenstein movie,” Patmon said about the deceptively edited gotcha videos designed to take down Planned Parenthood.
He claimed that in 2013, in his county, “There were 5,499 abortions. Of those, more than 3,000 of them were in the black community. And Planned Parenthood is active in our community.” They “need to be investigated.”
Near the end, Cavuto prompted Patmon to attack the Black Lives Matter movement. “Where are you on this because you seem to draw people back to what’s really key here. Explain,” Cavuto asked.
“What’s key here is that we’re all Americans,” Patmon responded. “What’s key is that when we lose one, we lose an American and that all of us have to work to make sure that don’t happen. And I understand folks who will say, well, what happens to the poor, the unwanted unborn. Well, we don’t know. You don’t just kill ‘em.
As Media Matters notes, Planned Parenthood provides health care for women, including 900,000 pap tests and breast exams from late 2012 to late 2013. Abortions make up only 3% of its services. That was not mentioned by anyone wanting to close the wallet for Planned Parenthood.
