Eric Holder Hospitalized. Fox Nation Readers Hope He Dies

Posted by Ellen -7859.80pc on February 27, 2014 · Flag

Attorney General Eric Holder has been hospitalized with shortness of breath and feeling faint. I haven't seen much about it on the Fox News Channel this hour. But over at "civil" and "tolerant" Fox Nation, readers are rooting for Holder to die. UPDATED with more comments and news about Holder.

Fox Nation says in its Statement of Purpose:

This is a place for people who believe we live in a great country, a welcoming refuge for legal immigrants who want to contribute their talents and abilities to make our way of life even greater. We believe we should enjoy the company and support of each other, delighting in the creativity, ingenuity, and work ethic of one and all, while observing the rules of civility and mutual respect and, most importantly, strengthening our diverse society by striving for unity.

Well, here are some examples of that "civility" and "striving for unity" in the comments to Fox Nation's report on Holder's hospitalization:

By the way, this is no anomaly. It's just the kind of behavior we have come to expect from Fox Nation's readers - and Jesse Watters, the editor who lets it happen.

H/T reader Andrew S.

UPDATE: Fox Nation has updated its post to report that Holder has been released from the hospital and is in good condition. Not surprisingly, Fox Nation readers are disappointed.

In the meanwhile, our readers have forwarded a few more comments worth posting (H/T readers Andrew and Barbara):

From d d’s comment:

“And too bad that BOR doesn’t have the balls to call out FOX Nation and Watters for allowing hate speech (the same way he has gone after HuffPo, DKos, etc. in the past). Guess BOR’s sense of “fair & balanced” and doing the right thing doesn’t apply when its his own network that’s doing the hating.”

Naturally d d, because remember: BOR KNOWS DAMN WELL who butters his bread and signs his BIG FAT PAYCHECKS! He KNOWS DAMN WELL that the instant he steps out of line and starts calling out Fox Nation and its editor Jesse Watters, JABBA THE AILES WILL GIVE HIM A PINK SLIP IN LESS THAN FORTY-EIGHT HOURS!

’Nuff said.

That’s too bad, Aria, as an ambushed Watters would be a nice turn-about. Having someone give him a taste of his own medicine and attempt to hold him accountable for the hate speech that FOX Nation allows to be posted would be interesting to see.

Updated with new, even more disturbing comments.

@dd: A few people have tried. Watters just goes silent, plays dumb when he has to speak, and has his guy film the ambush. Then he portrays himself as the victim, despite that even his edit has him trying his damnedest to get out of a fair question.

Too bad someone doesn’t do some ambush style, ahem, journalism on Watters and ask him why he allows such hateful crap to be posted on a site where he’s the editor.

And too bad that BOR doesn’t have the balls to call out FOX Nation and Watters for allowing hate speech (the same way he has gone after HuffPo, DKos, etc. in the past). Guess BOR’s sense of “fair & balanced” and doing the right thing doesn’t apply when its his own network that’s doing the hating.

The FOX “news” double standard strikes again.

Here on this site, there have been many things that make me go wtf? The “cute” plays on names and the sometimes crude comments are annoying and unnecessary, but NOTHING matches the despicable hate from the right. Disgusting.

I agree with you Aria, it is one thing to make comments like that, but for the website to actually let them remain is where they’re equally as wrong.

Now I’m sure our critics can point out where they feel I or other regulars here have crossed the line and using sarcasm can be a dangerous thing to use with the written word since the reader can’t feel the tone that you say or write it with. I been coming to News Hounds since 2007, and back then there was either no one to stop and delete comments like that or they were outnumbered and unable to catch everyone. This format is much better today.

Feeling no sympathy for monsters like Bin-Laden, or Hitler types that cause so much harm and pain to innocent victims is understandable, but to feel happiness at the death or health concerns of someone you disagree with politically is definitely crossing the line in my opinion. Once again I do not wish harm on those I politically disagree with, I only wish for the death of their ideas to be defeated at the ballot box.

When I read the news about AG Holder’s hospitalization, I knew immediately that the Fux Nation cesspool of hate would be churning. The racist turds would thrash about in a death-wish frenzy.

Personally, I hope that our AG gets well soon.

You know, you see all these Right-Wing outletstalking about how violent and out of control they think the left is… But you see comments like this on sites like Huffpo, The MSNBC forums, here? They’re gone the second it reaches an admin. The best a conservative can hope for is that the flagging gets buried, so that it takes a while for it to get seen. Hell, here on the Hounds, we’ve had a few times when they complained because we had to leave a comment up to track the IP of the person who posted it.

Sites like Fox Nation, however? You see the comment when it’s made, come back to read the new comments hours later, and it’s still there- With every conservative commenting on the thread having not only given it a like, but also piling on, and defending it from people who pointed out how out of line it is. Funny how these same trolls are nowhere to be seen when it’s time to comment on that- Unless they think they can defend it.

Sadly, it's the kind of classy behavior we have come to expect from "civil" and "tolerant" Fox Nation.
