I am comforted and not a little bit proud that FOX is now widely regarded as a biased and unbelievable source for anything resembling real news. Of course their defenders, those who are just happy to have their very own channel reflect and reinforce their own bigotry, ignorance, meanness and rage, will tell you (as they themselves have been told) that FOX is the only unbiased network. Those of us in the observable real world, where facts and science trump beliefs and dogma, had only to watch FOX go from a faux patriotic, flag waving, president-defending cheering section to a disrespectful, sneering, anti-government attack machine in the fall of 2008 to see the extent of their bias.

When we began watching FOX in late 2003 it was considered just another network and afforded all the scrutiny and attention as the others, that is, virtually none. We researchers were to a woman APPALLED by what we were seeing. Surely other networks' executives could see the slant, but where was the outrage? In what we could only guess was some sort of professional courtesy, nobody was calling them out.  Enter Robert Greenwald, bless his heart. His courage has made a real difference in American media. FOX can keep peddling its lies and misinformation to their doddering addled audience but because of Robert's vision it is no longer the sacred cow it was ten years ago. It is a joke and its on air personalities are clowns for the rest of the US to laugh at.  

I have to give huge props to Ellen for continuing the work at News Hounds. I had to walk away because the toxicity on the air and in the comments was reaching such extreme levels of vitriol that it was impacting my health and family. Ten YEARS of evidence of bias, propagandizing, lying, and unabashed support for the Republican Party (and even it's mutant offspring Tea Party) leaves absolutely no room for argument that FOX "News" is anything but "fair and balanced."
