Last week, Fox's The Five discussed a blog post by a U.S. District Court Judge saying female lawyers need to “tone it down” in terms of their courtroom attire. Co-host Eric Bolling asked colleague Kimberly Guilfoyle, “If you were in the courtroom would you show your ample chest? Isn’t that what he said? He said ample chest?” There was lots of laughter.
Guilfoyle, a former attorney, responded, “You have to be very respectful for the court, to the Judge, to the people, to the jurors, so I think you should not over-share any of your assets, ample or otherwise.”
Brian Kilmeade, never an attorney, disagreed. “If you could try a case, and you have an asset, which is a great body and a great figure, you’ve got to do everything you can do to be successful, so if it means somebody in the jury is going to be swung to your side because of the fact that you work out …then go ahead and do it.”
Guilfoyle insisted this would cause “big problems.” She added, “Every time I’d go to try a case, I would, like, try and just tone it all down, tone it all down.”
Bolling giggled. “Under scrutiny, you’re about to find out if you’re guilty or innocent, and you have to go up against the attorney showing the ample chest? This is what’s going to dictate my fate the next 20 years of my life? She’s showing ample chest?”
Of course, Kilmeade is pretty much just parroting the philosophy of Fox News. Guilfoyle admitted she would “never wear” the low-cut, clingy top she had on for The Five. Even if she hadn’t, Guilfoyle’s short skirt or dress (hiked up on one side for some extra thigh action), attention-getting shoes and legs that just happened to be aimed at the camera said it all.
