Bill O’Reilly committed Christmas heresy last night during his “War on Christmas” discussion with Sarah Palin. Apparently, he was so overcome with good cheer, he forgot that Fox News’ chief reason for the season is to spread ill will toward those who say, “holiday” instead of “Christmas.” Shockingly, O’Reilly now said he doesn't "have a beef" with anyone who says "Happy holidays" Just as shockingly, Palin - who has a new book out about fighting the War on Christmas - agreed.
Earlier this week, you may recall that O’Reilly complained about “creeping secularism” bringing about the “'happy holidays' syndrome." In the same segment, O’Reilly also attacked a Macy’s ad with a Santa promising to help with your “holiday wish list.” Previously, O’Reilly has suggested viewers boycott stores that wish the public “Happy holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas.” The matter was so important, O’Reilly told his viewers,
(It) has become the centerpiece in the culture war between traditional Americans and secular progressives. Outside of the War on Terror this culture war is the most important thing happening in the country today. At stake whether the USA will turn into a secular country that mirrors western Europe or maintain its emphasis on Judeo-Christian values.
But last night, he sang quite a different holiday tune.
In his second segment with Palin last night, the two discussed their war on the War on Christmas. The following exchange took place:
O’REILLY: You don’t have any beef about “Happy holidays,” do you?
PALIN: Absolutely not.
O’REILLY: …I don’t have either. …This woman in New York Times today, I forget her name but she writes a column there. You know, she’s mocking you and mocking me, saying, “Oh, they don’t like ‘Happy holidays.’” I don’t care about “Happy holidays.” Somebody says “Happy holidays” to me, I say, “OK, give me a present.”
O’Reilly now claimed his beef is with somebody saying, “You can’t say ‘Merry Christmas,’” or displaying a crèche or singing Christmas carols.
Well, if someone can show me where the Macy’s Santa forbid anyone from saying “Merry Christmas,” I might believe him. O’Reilly has a history of falsely accusing businesses of banning “Merry Christmas” – and then suggesting his audience boycott them.
Your logic must be on HOLIDAY Bill!
Maybe Palin emanate’s “stoooopid” when she is in the presence of others!
He exposed himself as a hypocrite and didn’t even realize it! What an idiot and a charlatan!
OTB Did any one catch that tirade that Former Judge Jeanine Pirro opened her show with this weekend? She must not have heard of the backlash toward Martin Bashir for his comments! I wonder if sweet Meghan(I’m not an idealog)Kelly will be devoting any air time to condemning Pirro’s comments toward our President?
I certainly will be expecting Howard Kurtz to be discussing her apology to come and her removal from Fox News for such a vile “opening statement.”
She also had a guest, on the show, that pondered why the media wasn’t calling “DEMOCRATS” out for their “WAR ON WOMEN”? Project much
They’ve really lost their collective minds over there and might want to check the air filtration system, ‘cause I don’t think they are getting enough oxygen to their brains!
He knows that we’re laughing at him, and he knows why, so he’s trying to reinvent himself. Ain’t gonna work, Bill.
Billy’s about face on happy holidays was probably not his idea. Perhaps, the suits and the Second Floor got tired of his antics and told him to knock it off.
NOTE TO BILLY
Let’s talk about your War on the Second Floor? Not all suits like you, but you knew that already.
