Bernard Goldberg Tells O’Reilly ‘I Was Embarrassed’ Watching Jesse Watters In San Francisco

Bill O’Reilly’s plan to “punish” San Francisco by sending producer Jesse Watters to embarrass them at a city supervisor’s meeting, backfired last night when colleague Bernard Goldberg smacked down the effort as embarrassing, crossing a line and all around inappropriate.

O’Reilly loved Watters’ disrespectful behavior so much, he put it in his Talking Points commentary rather than wait for the Watters World segment that comes later in The O’Reilly Factor show.

But Goldberg threw some mighty cold water on the effort. He said O’Reilly “went too far” by sending Watters to make “a sanctimonious speech about the evils of sanctuary cities.” It “crosses a line,” Goldberg said. “I was embarrassed watching it.”

“It’s one thing to stick a microphone in their face and ask those tough questions. It’s another to stand as a representative of Fox News at the podium at a public hearing and make a speech,” Goldberg admonished.

Watch Watters and O’Reilly get a very public comeuppance below, from the July 9 The O’Reilly Factor. The July 8 Talking Points is underneath.

It’s wholeheartedly dishonest to attack O’reilly for featuring Jessie Watters in his “Talking Points,” memo. Waters is usually featured in a segment called “Watters World,” in which he conducts a comedic ‘man on the street,’ interviews. Waters has also covered legitimate news stories, apart from his “Watters World,” segment many times in the past. Why should he be pigeon-holed into one narrative?

So, when do we see the sequel, where Watters goes to Texas to ask how a five-time deported illegal immigrant can commit a felony… And only get criminal probation?

Oh, right- Abbott’s governor, and Rick of the hipster glasses is planning a 2016 WH run. Texas is off-limits.

Smarmy can’t do serious.

I wish Watters had nothing to say.

“Tangerine Sunset”. I like that truman. Maybe Junior and Ducky Donald could market it on O’Reilly.com, under the heading “Orange is the New Gray”.

@jan hall. Bildo dipped into Birther Boy Trump’s stash of hair gel. The color is called “tangerine sunset”.

It’s entertainement. Sometimes that means being crass. Guys like O’Reilly have no shame — they are interested in the hit and nothing but the hit. Good for Bernie for standing up this time but it is not likely to have an effect.

I was embarrassed also. As a sentient being. Bill-O doesn’t know the meaning of embarrassed. And did you get a look at the puss-face on Watters when he was “lecturing” the city officials?? The boy needs some serious acting lessons, unless that is what passes for talent at Faux.

Hey Bernie, are you just realizing that this is what Fox does?

It’s called Advocacy Journalism.

It’s okay, you can say it. Your audience has no idea what it means …

Speaking of “embarrassing”, what is that gunk in Junior O’Reilly’s hair? I thought nightly hair color change was Megyn Kelly’s Shtick?

Quite honestly, I’ve seen Watters embarrass himself and Fox much more severely than this on more than one previous occasion. DeBlasio last fall comes to mind first.

“Embarrassment” is not one of Bildo’s word of the day.
