President Obama is attending a fundraiser with Jay-Z and Beyoncé tonight, instead of meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu; and last night Sean Hannity and guest Michelle Bachmann radiated horror and disapproval as they discussed this latest manifestation of the President's so-called pro-Islam foreign policy. (Actually, if Obama had been meeting Netanyahu it wouldn't be till next week, when the Prime Minister comes to New York for the opening of the UN General Assembly, so that wouldn't stop him from going to a fundraiser tonight; but who wants truth when exaggeration is so much more effective?)
Last night’s segment began with a clip of Ms. Bachmann at a podium exhorting an audience, “What [Obama] needs to do is cancel his interview with David Letterman, cancel his meeting with Beyoncé, cancel his meeting with Jay-Z, and instead to meet with the Prime Minister of Israel.” As he introduced her as his guest, Hannity was all approval: “I want to see Mitt Romney say that as passionately as you did.” Bachmann replied that she was sure he would: “He loves and appreciates Israel. Mitt Romney is the candidate who went to Israel, unlike our President.”
Amazing, said Hannity, noting that Obama is scheduled to meet with the “Muslim Brotherhood’s [Mohammed] Morsi” the new Egyptian President, but not with “Bibi.” That's consistent with his actions, Bachmann replied. “Everything he’s done has been to lift up this Islamist-supremacist agenda, in other words this idea of seeking to implement Islamist law across the world.”…“We know that Iran is bent on having a nuclear weapon… so they can impose their will on the rest of the world…think of all the people who are rioting – then think of them holding a nuclear bomb.”
Why is the President not at Israel's back, agreed Hannity, as the US has always been when Israel is under attack? And oh horrors, why is he going to a party, when we have dead Navy Seals, and a dead ambassador, and dozens dead in Afghanistan? "We can't afford four more years," he finished - we all knew he would say something like that, right?
Fox Nation couldn’t resist this one either. “Obama Snubs Netanyahu to Hang with Jay-Z, Letterman,” reads the headline. The USA Today article it links to, though, is far less inflammatory; it starts with “Conservatives have a new mantra”, and goes on to say that reportedly, Obama and Netanyahu talk whenever they need to. But that's just left-wing media bias of course, gentle reader. Fox News doesn't let facts get in the way of a good Obama-slamming (or a bad one, for that matter.)
Snark aside, the criticisms levied at President Obama for not closeting himself up in the Oval Office are made by neanderthals who willfully ignore the marvels of modern technology. All they actually want is for the President to stop campaigning.
I think he could do that without endangering his re-election because his best supporter, so far, has been …. (drums roll) …. Romney, himself.
If these two worthless pieces of slag want to cheerlead for Israel, they should move there. Until Israel formally applies for US Statehood, this country’s obligations to Israel should be of no importance when it comes to Presidential elections. (Of course, Israeli aspirations for US statehood would come up against a major roadblock—the GOP insistance on “English-only” while Israel’s official language is Hebrew. Yes, most Israelis are able to converse in English—far more coherently than either Bachmann or Hannity—but they’d prefer visitors to Medinat Yisra’el to converse in Hebrew. Of course, the Arab Israelis speak Arabic as a first language—and Arabic is an official language of Israel.)
Their list of “facts” about Libya would almost be entertaining, except that A) They honestly believe that crap, and B) They’re cleaning their guns for US Muslims and black immigrants over it.
