Apparently “American Exceptionalism” Doesn’t Apply To California

Posted by Ellen -7842.60pc on March 17, 2012 · Flag

You know how Fox News is always complaining about President Obama not believing in “American exceptionalism?” Well, last I checked the State of California was part of America. But it didn’t sound like Bill O’Reilly and his like-minded guest, Adam Carolla, think California is so terrific. In a segment that started with the question, “Why can’t a Republican presidential candidate win California?” concluded with thoughts about going to jail for buying a goldfish, and in-between said that everyone who lives there are either “self-aggrandizing” New Yorkers or poor Mexicans, I didn’t hear a single good thing about the place.

Noting that he is the only native Californian in the state, Carolla “quipped,” “Everyone else is from either New York or Tijuana.” He divided the population up into either the most “progressive” and “self-aggrandizing” people or the poorest.

O’Reilly sneered, “Your state is bankrupt, people are moving out of it, it’s chaotic and they still keep voting Democrat, Democrat, Democrat.”

That’s because it’s “union oriented,” Carolla explained. Businesses get driven out but the votes are with the unions. (I guess Google doesn’t count.)

O’Reilly said, “You can get heroine for free but you can’t buy a goldfish.”

Can you imagine if a liberal spoke that way about, say, Arizona?

Of course, what's really wrong with California is that it's guaranteed to go for Obama next fall.
