On Wednesday’s (3/21/12) Your World, Rep. Xavier Becerra and Neil Cavuto spoke about speculators, energy, and gas prices. The last two minutes of the discussion, focusing on the right approach to energy, became quite heated. The next day, Cavuto read some of his mail about the segment. Most of it was negative toward him.
Becerra said in reference to energy, "The President has said we should take the all of the above approach."
Cavuto interrupted and began shouting, "He says that but he's not doing it! I just talked to a guy who, I trust, knows more about oil than you do. He says he's not doing it."
Becerra responded, "It's tough if I'm going to try to answer your question if you don't let me answer the question."
Cavuto shot back, "I just asked you four different ways and you haven't."
Becerra said that under President Obama we have "four times more oil rigs drilling for oil today than when George Bush was in office. We have more oil rigs drilling for oil than every other country in the world combined." He later told Cavuto, "The facts don't agree with you."
Cavuto insisted, "I know the facts. I have the facts right in front of me."
No he didn't. The president’s “all of the above” approach is laid out on WhiteHouse.gov.
Well, at least Cavuto can laugh at himself. Yesterday, he read a series of responses to the segment, many of which were pretty unflattering. “I report, you feel free to just deride,” he quipped.
Jesus….what a dick. Why would he invite someone on his show to talk about oil if he doesn’t think that person knows anything about oil? Why didn’t he invite the “guy” he just talked to that supposedly knows more?
