Fox Nation Promotes Meme That Sgt. Bergdahl Is 'Deserter'
Despite the circumstances of Pfc. Bowe Bergdhal's disappearance from his unit, it is unclear whether he officially "deserted" or went AWOL. Until the facts are sorted out, the Dept. of Defense is withholding judgment. But not so for Fox Nation. Today, on their webpage, they have three articles which, in their titles, describe Bergdhal as a "deserter." Gotta love how Fox Nation is so committed to their mission of "observing the rules of civility and mutual respect."

Bill O’Reilly predictably attacked the recovery of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl and the release of five Taliban prisoners at Guantanamo Bay prison in exchange. O’Reilly even went so far as to suggest that Bergdahl should have been left in Afghanistan to die. Bill O'Reilly never served in the military which, at the time he graduated from college, was still embroiled in an unnecessary war in Vietnam, so perhaps that might have been a factor. (Pun intended) But that doesn't stop him from carrying the eternal grudge, held by a few right wing veterans, against Jane Fonda whose visit to North Vietnam was considered a betrayal of this country. On Friday night's Factor, Bill advanced the newest right wing "outrage" over Jane Fonda's invitation to speak at the UCLA commencement. Bill, who claimed without a scintilla of evidence, that Fonda was a "traitor," doesn't think that Fonda deserves the honor and that people should protest. But at the same time, Bill dismissed the notion that Condoleeza Rice's Rutgers commencement invite was equally problematic.

Megyn Kelly worked a GOP twofer tonight when she hosted former Vice President Dick Cheney to attack to discuss the Obama administration’s recovery of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in return for freeing five Taliban prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. On the one hand, Kelly helped bolster Cheney’s credibility by developing quite a case of amnesia as to his own discredited war history. On the other, Kelly exploited her bolstering by using a “credible” Cheney to attack President Obama’s handling of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Univision anchor Jorge Ramos discussed the “not really professional” press with Bill O’Reilly Friday night. “They are more concerned with keeping their contacts than just getting the truth” or “to question those in power,” Ramos complained. O’Reilly tried to except himself by insisting he is only “editorially” more supportive of Republicans than Democrats. “I’ve never done a softball interview in my life,” O’Reilly insisted.
