Megyn Kelly's Anti-Islamic Guest Says Obama Ignores Muslim 'War On Christians'
In addition to providing sanctuary for legions of persecuted American Christians, Fox News has expanded its role as defender of the faith to Christians world wide. In the spirit of medieval popes, who called for Catholics to kick some serious Muslim ass, Fox News appears to be calling on President Obama to intervene on behalf of Christians in Muslim countries. Tuesday, Megyn Kelly pushed this meme with Brooke Goldstein, a "human rights advocate" and attorney with the Lawfare Project, who, along with Islamophhobic types like David Horowitz, believes that Huma Abedin is connected to Islamic terror. Because of this bogus connection, Anthony Weiner, according to Goldstein, is no longer attracted to Abedin and that's why he got involved in internet mischief. But Goldstein is concerned about how Christians and other minorities are treated in the Muslim world and that's why Megyn Kelly treated her so well in a Fox propaganda triple play - persecuted Christians are showcased, Islam is, once again, "bashed with impunity," and Pres. Obama is smeared. Sweet...

It looks like we can chalk up "President Obama wants the Marines to wear 'girly hats' as yet another story that Fox News was so eager to use against our president that it didn't bother to properly fact check. If you watched The Kelly File last night or Fox & Friends this morning (and maybe other shows), you'd think that President Obama wants to create a new "unisex" hat for the Marines dress uniform. But if you read the Stars and Strives, you'll know that the Marines say it's not true. UPDATED. (H/T David P.)

Ted Cruz coasted to an easy victory in our Outrageous Quote Poll this week for his rousing comments about how he found inspiration and encouragement in his own government shutdown. I can't think of a more deserving winner.

As part of his mockery of President Obama and the Affordable Care Act, Sean Hannity called a health care call center while he was on the radio this week. He had a lengthy discussion with Earline Davis, the woman who answered the phone. Hannity's questions included, “Have you ever gotten anyone who really likes Obamacare yet?” After that chat, Davis got fired. Hannity claims he feels terrible, is trying to get Davis a new job and has offered to pay her salary for a year. Memo to Davis: Collect quick because Hannity’s record is not good. Oh, and in the meanwhile? Hannity tried to exploit her as an Obamacare “victim.”

It has now been more than 4 ½ years since Sean Hannity offered to be waterboarded (or “dunked” as he sometimes calls it) to prove that it’s not torture. So has Hannity weaseled out because he’s afraid to under go such a supposedly benign procedure? Or is his word just generally no good? I’ll report and let you decide. But in the meanwhile, keep this broken promise in mind the next time Hannity sanctimoniously harps on President Obama’s supposedly broken promises about Obamacare.

Last night, the Hannity show hosted Austan Goolsbee, a former economic adviser to President Obama, for a debate designed to smear President Obama and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius along with the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”). But Hannity littered his attacks with distortions. Goolsbee did a great job calling Hannity out on them – and he upped the ante by calling out Hannity on those fake Obamacare victims the Hannity show featured not long ago. Rather than own up to his chicanery, Hannity tried to cover it up with more dissembling.

As the mouthpiece for the religious right, the conservative Christians on Fox & Friends provide VIP treatment for American Christians who are constantly being persecuted by the insidious atheist agenda. And as part of their role as defenders of the Fox faith, the pals also have the back of God himself who, according to Fox's homophobic "fundamentalist barking dog" Todd Starnes, could be kicked out of his place of honor in the Air Force oath. Yesterday, Starnes exposed this latest faux outrage which included a swipe at Mikey Weinstein, head of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, now a target of the religious right because his group has been successful in pressuring the military to tamp down on inappropriate "Christian" proselytizing in the military. Last night, the information in Starnes article was given national attention by Megyn Kelly who advanced the Fox/right wing meme that the military is curtailing religious freedom. This morning, Fox & Friends upped the propaganda ante with the claim that Weinstein's group is attacking not just God - but the Air Force itself!

Sean Hannity had an interview with his government shutdown BFF Senator Mike Lee last night. There was no talk of how Lee’s popularity has plummeted in Utah since the shutdown stunt nor how Lee has alienated many in his own party since taking office. But near the end, Hannity acknowledged that “some establishment types in Utah might be trying to change the rules to hurt you.” If that continues, Hannity promised, “I’ll do everything I can do – We’ll go out to Utah, we’ll have a big Tea Party out there. We’ll remind them why you were elected.”

Megyn Kelly recently told the Associated Press that her new show will be different from those of Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity because "you're not going to hear what I think." Now that her show is up and running, it appears that while her claim of objectivity might be technically correct, in that she doesn't prefix her comments with the words pertaining to what or how she thinks, her biases are very clear. In validating the claims of an anti-immigrant filmmaker, she said that the comments of a xenophobic veteran were "understandable." In validating the hypocrisy of Allen West, she asked where the "accountability" was for remarks made by Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson. Her show was barely a week old when she took on the issue of public prayer. As she frequently did on her old show, she was able to convey her opinion without stating it. As a primer for Megyn Kelly (and Fox/right wing) propaganda, it was quite instructive.

Mikey Weinstein, of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, squared off against Megyn Kelly tonight over his complaint to have “so help me, God” removed from the Air Force Academy’s honor oath. Rather than just let the Air Force decide the matter, The Kelly File deliberately decided to rile up its viewers by suggesting their (Christian) religious liberty is at risk. The result was a lot of snotty sarcasm from host Kelly who, at one point, sneered, “Mikey, chill. Chill. Come on. It’s OK. I’m just asking the questions.”
