Fox News Panel Complains Obama Inaugural Not Tea Party Friendly Enough

Posted by Ellen · January 21, 2013 4:59 PM · 6 reactions

I missed most of President Obama’s inauguration speech but I knew it had to be pretty darned good, hard-hitting and effective from the disdain and disgust from the Fox News commenters in its immediate aftermath. In my view, Brit Hume took the cake for his lament that the speech wasn’t 2010 enough, i.e. Obama didn’t talk cutting entitlements or defer to the Tea Party enough. Nobody reminded him that the Tea Party has lost about 2/3 of its popularity since 2010 and is now substantially less popular than socialism.

Fox’s Rosen: Too Much About Civil Rights In Obama’s Inaugural Address!

Posted by Ellen · January 21, 2013 2:42 PM · 7 reactions

Today is Martin Luther King's birthday and the second inaugural ceremony of the first African-American president. So you and I would probably find it entirely fitting that President Obama would highlight civil rights in his inaugural address. But not Fox News! During what was supposed to be an "objective" news report on Obama's address, reporter James Rosen kept up Fox News' tradition of race baiting on Martin Luther King Day.

Fr. Jonathan Morris Smears Welfare Recipients While Praising Entrepreneurship

Posted by Priscilla · January 20, 2013 6:54 PM · 6 reactions

While there are many different Christian denominations, the only Sunday "preacher" at Fox News is a Catholic priest, Fr. Jonathan Morris who, as the one true Fox priest, preaches the gospel according to Roger Ailes and the GOP right. With his best Broadway delivery he regularly interweaves right wing talking points with Catholic dogma. Lately, he's been a bit prickly about how the nefarious forces of evil atheism are trying to take God out of society, especially that nasty MSNBC anchor, Lawrence O'Donnell who had the audacity to suggest that the Bible is long past it's sell by date for presidential inaugurations. This morning, in talking about the importance of religion at inaugurations, the sweet little padre was able to work in this meme in addition to preaching the GOP gospel entrepreneurship and dissing welfare recipients. What's *"Sinday" (another one of Father's Facebook Freudian slips) on Fox & Friends without Fr. Morris!

Fox's Gun Appreciation Poll Includes A Suspicious Number Of Gun Owners

Posted by Ellen · January 20, 2013 5:04 PM · 7 reactions

There's something fishy about Fox News' latest poll which the "fair and balanced" network is trumpeting as showing that "Twice as many favor more guns over banning guns to reduce crime." When you dig into the weeds, you discover that 52% of the respondents say someone in their household owns a gun (question 46) whereas other polls have found a significantly smaller percentage of the population has been found to have a gun in the house.

Fox News Reporter May Have Compromised Aurora Shooting Prosecution

Posted by · January 20, 2013 10:48 AM · 13 reactions

Well, well, well…it appears that Fox News’ Jana Winters is now a person of interest in the trial for Aurora shooter James Holmes. Seems that back in July, Winters wrote an article for FoxNews.com on the shooting that contained some pretty confidential information about a notebook Holmes sent a University of Colorado psychiatrist. Holmes’ lawyers are not amused; neither is the judge presiding over the case, who approved efforts to subpoena her for both her sources, as well as all her notes for the piece. As of this point, Fox News has yet to release a statement regarding their stance, or how they plan to handle the conditions that allowed such a leak.

Glenn Beck Plans A Libertarian Disneyland

Posted by Ellen · January 19, 2013 6:46 PM · 11 reactions

In case you've been wondering what Glenn Beck has been up to, if you think getting booted from Fox News has chastened him in any way or put a chink in his megalomania, it's time to reconsider. It seems that Beck's plans are bigger than ever. Earlier this week, he revealed plans for some kind of super duper libertarian utopia/theme park. And guess what? It's one big monument to Beck's philosophy - and, presumably, to the lining of his pockets.

Fox Nation Salivates over Obama Ratings 'Plummet'

Posted by Margarita · January 19, 2013 5:07 PM · 7 reactions

I thought Fox News didn’t believe in polls, gentle reader – they certainly slammed the stuffing out of them during the last election campaign. But when a poll reflects badly on President Obama, Fox Nation is happy to make it their lead post. Titled “Rejected,” it gleefully informs us that according to the latest Gallup poll, Obama’s approval rating has "plummeted" to 49%.

The NRA Is Wrong About Armed Guards At Obama Girls' School - Where's Fox News Fact Checking?

Posted by Ellen · January 19, 2013 3:44 PM · 11 reactions

Fox News loves to point fingers at the so-called "liberal mainstream media" for being too credulous, especially now over the Manti Te'o hoax. So where were Fox's journalistic skills when the NRA attacked President Obama as an "elite hypocrite" whose own children go to a school with 11 armed guards, while trying to restrict guns elsewhere? Answer: nowhere to be found - just like those mythical armed guards at the Obama daughters' school. The Washington Post did some real fact checking and guess what? That NRA ad that Hannity gushed over got it wrong. I haven't seen a correction anywhere else on Fox, either.

Kimberly Guilfoyle Says Rough Play OK & Dana Perino Loves A Man In Denim?!

Posted by Priscilla · January 19, 2013 1:58 PM · 5 reactions

As the mouthpiece for the patriarchal right wing, who would love to take us back to the 50's, Fox News' prime time is a man's world where, for the most part, white, Christian family values guys promote the patriarchal politics of the GOP while the leggy, buxom, eye candy gals do the same thing. For some time, there has been a GOP meme, advanced by the muy macho Rush Limbaugh, about feminized Democrats ("metrosexual" John Kerry). But now that they have a House Speaker who cries, this culture war focus has shifted to children, as evidenced by Fox's questions of whether yoga (Eastern, heathen) is "leading to the wussification of America" and contributing to "raising a nation of wimps." This week, the manly GOP man (Bolling) on The Five, along with his comely conservative handmaidens, tackled the pressing issue of whether the schools are "too feminized." Ah, don't ya love the smell of testosterone in the evening!
