Megyn Kelly's 'Baldest Racism' Called Out
That Fox News is the media outlet for angry, racist white people would seem to be underscored by the presence of Megyn Kelly who has become the defender of white privilege against the mythical hordes of scary black people, demons if you will, who inhabit the nightmares of Fox's audience. Given that Kelly once opined that Santa (and Jesus) is white, it isn't surprising that a white supremacist group praised her. But her comments on the melanin content of cultural figures pale in comparison to her blatant race baiting - be it her coverage of supposed voter intimidation on the part of scary Black Panthers, a swearing black child, and Michael Brown's death and the aftermath. And after maligning the protests over Brown's killing, she is now defending the homicidal police chokehold, which resulted in the death of Eric Garner, with comments that journalist Andrew Sullivan has described as the "baldest racism."

In addition to providing "fair & balanced" "news," Roger Ailes sees Fox as a media conduit for advancing the version of Christianity espoused by the anti-gay, anti-choice religious right groups such as "Faith and Action," an organization that seeks to advance a radical right wing Christian agenda. This group is headed by Rob Schenck who, in the 90's, engaged in anti-choice radicalism. But he has since calmed down and is now focusing his efforts on proselytizing the US Congress and doing his annual Christmas "Living Nativity." So, in order to publicly show his allegiance to these conservative crusaders, Ailes provides them with an annual televised platform outside Fox News headquarters as well as the use of Fox News dressing rooms. And this year, as a special treat, the Fox pals were able to use the Nativity to promote their year round motif of persecuted Christianity. Hosanna in the highest!

Last night, Bill O’Reilly argued with Tavis Smiley that the police killings of African Americans such as Eric Garner and Michael Brown are “minuscule,” have nothing to do with race and should not be considered as a pattern. But saying “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas?” Why, that requires action!

If you’ve watched Fox News since the news tonight, you must surely know that the hosts are adamantly arguing that the police killings of unarmed Eric Garner and Michael Brown have nothing to do with race. Fox’s latest excuse to race bait Michael Brown’s “angry black man” stepfather was to trot out psychiatrist Keith Ablow for a discussion about whether the stepfather should be prosecuted for inciting a riot in Ferguson, MO. But Ablow took it a step further by fingering the stepfather as guiltier in Brown's death than the man who actually shot and killed the unarmed teenager.

As America's premier morning bible show, Fox & Friends takes its bible movies very seriously. And when these bible movies don't measure up to their high standards, Fox & Friends wastes no time in criticizing them such as when official Fox priest, Fr. Jonathan Morris whined, to Fox Christian friend Ainsley Earhardt, that God wasn't mentioned in the movie "Noah" - even though the term "creator" was used. So now that Christian Bale, who plays Moses in the new movie "Exodus, Gods and Kings," has said that Moses was either a terrorist or a freedom fighter, Christian friend Elisabeth Hasselbeck and her Fox priest pal are a little concerned about what they feel is "unfair" treatment of Moses at the hands of faithless Hollywood.

I don’t which was funnier: watching Bill O’Reilly compare War on Christmas deniers to global warming deniers or the crackpot psychotherapist he consulted who described atheists as bullying abusers. And if you thought Dr. Keith Ablow was a nutcase, get a load of Dr. Karen Ruskin.
