As a media conduit for anti-choice propaganda, Fox News did its due diligence in promoting an anti-choice sting video which purported to show a Planned Parenthood worker engaged in illegalities. (It didn't) And now that the same group has a new sting video, Fox "news" is on it like flies on you know what!
The shady, anti-choice activist group, "Center for Medical Progress," has just released another video which shows a Planned Parenthood representative discussing the cost of dealing with fetal tissue - an arrangement that is perfectly legal and done routinely. It hasn't been 24 hours since the video release; but that didn't stop alleged news hosts, Bill Hemmer and Martha MacCallum from reporting on this latest faux outrage.
After Hemmer began with a report on a "brand new second undercover video now being made public." A piece of the presumably *edited video was shown. Hemmer, flanked by a solemn looking Martha MacCallum, described the video as "allegedly" showing a Planned Parenthood representative "haggling over the price of aborted body parts." He solemnly intoned that "this follows a story that broke late last week." He didn't mention that the "story" was basically bullshit.
The banner was straight of the anti-choice playbook in its use of "baby" instead of fetus: "New Video Shows Planned Parenthood Exec Talking Price of Baby Tissue." MacCallum reported that the video was "secretly recorded by a pro-life group'" She didn't mention that this group is headed by William Daleidin, a pal of the totally discredited James O'Keefe, who believes that abortion is "genocide." She didn't mention that Troy Newman, formerly of the violent "Operation Resue," is on the CMP's board." She noted that CMP also produced video which showed a Planned Parenthood working discussing saving fetal organs. Keep in mind that Planned Parenthood DOESN'T SELL FETAL TISSUE, but, according to MacCallum "that practice of selling tissue from fetuses is illegal."
MacCallum tossed to Peter Doocy, spawn of the mentally challenged Fox Friend Steve Doocy, to tell us what this new video "shows." Doocy described how the video shows a "negotiation" over tissue prices from aborted fetuses. Naturally, Doocy honed in on the joke, made by the Planned Parenthood person, that she wanted enough money to buy a Lamborghini "while she's laughing at the end of the conversation." A section of the edited (?) video was shown. Doocy didn't mention that the woman said "no," after the Lamborghini comment.
Doocy then quoted Fr. Frank Pavone, head of the radical "Priests for Life," who, not surprisingly, attacked Planned Parenthood with verbiage about how Planned Parenthood "kills children" and "sells" fetal body parts. (It doesn't, but Fox priests never lie, right?) Doocy summed up what the edited video purports to show; i.e haggling over prices for the tissue. MacCallum breathlessly intoned, "unbelievable" and asked how "Planned Parenthood "justifies what we just saw and heard." (Again, are they using the full or edited video?)
Doocy breathlessly said that Planned Parenthood maintains that it is doing nothing illegal and, OMG, is accusing the nice pro-life group of fraud and deceptive editing. He read a comment from Planned Parenthood.
Even in the heavily edited version of the video, the Planned Parenthood person says "we're not in it for the money." But you didn't hear that on Fox "News," which, as a "fair & balanced" "news" network, has "pro-life" propaganda to pimp!
*America's Newsroom is shown between 10 and 11AM, EDT. As of 10:53AM, according to the Daily Beast, the unedited version hadn't been released. So we don't know if Fox was using the edited version or had previous access to the full video.
Dems need to stop being so wimpy and reactive and go on offense and be proactive. Attack, show no mercy, and attack again.
