As I reported yesterday, during her gynormas rant about how the Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR) is trying to suppress free speech on college campuses and intimidate Fox into not covering a movie made by the anti-Islamic Clarion Fund, Megyn Kelly attacked Richard Silverstein who agrees with CAIR's criticism of the film. But unlike so many of those attacked on Fox News, he is willing to rebut Kelly's hateful rhetoric and what he is claiming are outright lies. But isn't Megyn Kelly a "truth detector" so WTF?
In his article on "Tikun Olam-תיקון עולם," titled "Fox News' Big Shill For 'Honor Diaries'" Silverstein informs us that when he initially spoke with Kelly's producer, he agreed "in principle" to appear on Kelly's Tuesday show if he could obtain a copy of the film and if the producer, Karrah Kaplan, could tell him the names of the other guests. So when Kelly, on Monday night, suggested that he refused to appear, she was, according to Silverstein, lying. After seeing her hit piece, he changed his mind and declined the invitation to appear on the show for which he had been scheduled.
Silverstein also takes issue with Kelly's description of him as a spokesperson for CAIR: "I don’t represent CAIR or speak for CAIR." In refuting Kelly's claim that the film's critics are trying to silence Fox, he says this: "I certainly never believed Fox News would back off its coverage because of anything I said or wrote. I merely wanted to pre-empt the slanted, bogus coverage it would put on air with something much closer to the truth." After he makes the astute comment that "there is simply no way to have an honest conversation with anyone like Megyn Kelly on this film or anything else," he concludes with a Yiddish expression of disgust, "Feh-fooya."
But wait, there's more. In a subsequent article, Silverstein turns Kelly's comments about CAIR's supposed censorship around in an article titled "Fox News Censors 'Honor Diaries' Critics." He also reports that after he wrote a letter of complaint, about Kelly's defamatory and bogus comments, to Kelly's producer, he received a letter from Kelly's boss and executive producer, Tom Lowell. But rather than address Silverstein's concern, Lowell - wait for it - accused Silverstein of engaging in "ad-hominem" attacks on Kelly in the form of "puerile postings" on Silverstein's blog which "constitute a priori attempts to quash the debate by impugning our motives and questioning our integrity." As Silverstein points out, Kelly's producer knew about his article, in which he questioned Fox's motives in inviting CAIR on the show to discuss the film, while she was arranging for his appearance.
A Fox News producer is accusing somebody of attempting to quash debate by impugning motives. OH, the irony! Silverstein's comment that "at any rate, Fox News is a cesspool fully deserving of garbage like Honor Diaries and the Clarion Project," says it all!!!!
