On Fox & Friends: Anti-Immigration Kris Kobach Plays Fear Of 'Amnesty' Card

Posted by Priscilla -25.80pc on April 01, 2014 · Flag

President Obama is on track to deport more people than any other president. But that's not enough for Fox & Friends which recently hosted the nativist Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach who claimed that the deportation numbers were false because Obama is "cooking the books" - an unfounded allegation that plays well to the Fox audience's fear of "illegals." This past Saturday Kobach returned to Fox & Friends where he fomented more fear while discussing a change in immigration policy which grants "unlawful presence provisional waivers to the immediate relatives of U.S. citizens" for those who, under old policy, were required to leave the US in order to reapply for status. The policy allows those who have committed "petty offenses" to obtain the waiver while waiting for a Green Card. Obviously, this represents a more humane approach to things - but not for Kobach who claims that this "amnesty" (popular right wing buzz word) is all about releasing hordes of criminal brown people.

Anna Kooiman began with video of Vice-President Joe Biden "sharing his thoughts on illegal immigrants." In the video, Biden said that he believes that the undocumented, who are "living in the shadows, are "already Americans." (Oh, nooooo) Tucker Carlson asked if "the administration would have the same view if these illegals also turn out to be criminals." He claimed that new DHS policy is giving "petty criminals" and "youthful offenders" a "second chance." (Oh, nooooo) Kooiman introduced her guest, the rabidly anti-immigration Kansas Secretary of State and attorney for a white nationalist group, Kris Kobach whose newest claims about how the Obama administration is providing "amnesty" to criminals is getting traction on Minutemen and white nationalist  blogs, one of which has this very video!

In explaining "the gross abuse of power" by the administration, Kobach spoke about a new policy which allows "amnesty" for undocumented relatives of US citizens. The chyron advanced the narrative: "Petty Crime, No Punishment, DHS Won't Deny Waivers to Alien Offenders." Kobach then invoked the popular anti-immigration talking point about "anchor babies" when he explained that those who are allowed to stay "have a kid" to get more amnesty. The chyron continued the agitprop: "A Second Chance, DHS Says "Petty" Criminal Illegals OK."  Kobach raised the fear of "illegal" gang members when he claimed that the administration "is saying" that "as long as you committed your crime before the age of 18, like many gang members, or if it's a petty crime, then you're OK." He aded "This administration seems to be saying no illegal alien left behind."

As the chyron read "Crime Pays? Chance to Stay in the US for Illegal Offenders," Kobach claimed that all sorts of heinous crimes would be considered "petty" under the new policy. Carlson chimed in "the rest of us, silly us, are watching the Congress to see if they'll vote, put into law, amnesty but the real action is taking place in the Executive Branch where the president who brags about having a pen is just giving us de-facto amnesty." Kobach agreed and claimed that no other administration has "broken" the law as is this one. He used, as an example, the Dream Act which is just more "amnesty." More propaganda with this chyron: "Illegals Get a Do-Over, 'Petty' Criminals Given Second Chance by DHS."

Kooiman addressed "the security of Americans" because petty crimes "often escalate." Kobach speculated that these evil doers might even be guilty of more serious crimes that we don't know of. Once again he accused the Obama administration of allowing amnesty: "but you'd think it would stop just short of criminals." The agitprop chyrons were relentless: "Turning a Blind Eye, DHS Okays 'Petty Crime,' 'youthful offenders." White privilege poster boy Carlson quipped "nobody pretends this is good for America, it's all to get Democrats elected."

Right, Tucker, keep denigrating "illegals" and the Democrats will get elected. But funny, Carlson could be describing Fox News when he says that "nobody pretends this is good for America!"

The first sentence belies the story. Obama cooked the books according to Sen Jeff Sessions. That is all presidents prior to Obama used a different method of calculation of deportations: the illegal aliens turned back at the border were included in the so-called “deportations”. When one considers that the arrest rate at the largest two areas, Tucson with a 3% and Rio Grande with a 10% rates, and an overall number of about 400,000, you can see in 2013 alone that about 4,000,000 illegal aliens crossed our borders. And that in itself proves that Obama has been obfuscating the truth in claiming he was the deporter in chief.
With an estimated 50 million illegals in the US, giving them amnesty will do untold damage to our society. Kobach was correct afterall.

The best books-cooking case IMO is the one where a certain POTUS kept a sizeable chunk of war spending OFF the books for the duration of his 2 terms in office. Then, when that spending was put on the books where it belonged, all the RWingers protested at the sharp increase in public spending.
And the fact that they can do that without blinking en eye simply floors me.

Yesterday, Fux Noise bloviated that President Obama was “cooking the books” to inflate the number of Obamacare enrollees. Today, Fux Noise squealed that President Obama is “cooking the books” to diminsh the number of brown-skin illegal aliens allowed to prey on the good white citizens. What will our President be cooking tomorrow?
