One of the ongoing themes in the right wing, and on its mouthpiece, Fox News, is that conservative women are the subject of vicious, sexist attacks by liberals. Sarah Palin was often used as an example of how those on the left, like Bill Maher, said mean and cruel things about conservative women. Greg Gutfeld was upset with NOW for not immediately jumping to Palin's defense after Maher made a sexist "joke" about her. Bill O'Reilly contended that conservative women, like Palin, were not treated with the respect they deserve. But inherent in this outrage was a double standard in that O'Reilly's pals, Glenn Beck and Dennis Miller have made offensive comments about Rep. (and first female House Speaker) Nancy Pelosi's plastic surgery. This double standard was present during last week's "Miller Time" during which the real washed up "comedian" Dennis Miller made an offensive remark about Democrat Rep. and cancer survivor, Debbie Wasserman Schultz. And Bill O'Reilly laughed...
O'Reilly ran with what seems to have started on Brietbart and was making the rounds of the right wing bilesphere; i.e. the comments made by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz about the effects of the sequester on congressional staff who, she claimed, were being priced out of lunches at the House's restaurants. Not surprisingly, the Breitbart article made it over to Fox Nation (with an unflattering photo) where it was obviously sourced by O'Reilly who sarcastically cited the actual prices of menu items. Dennis Miller provided his usual comedic stylings:
"Debbie Wasserman Schultz, what a waste of a hyphen. This empty-headed addled perm-mannequin. We have soldiers calling into my show telling me that they're getting their tuition that they were promised cut when they get back from war, and this jerk is whining about some butt-kissing staffer of her not being able to afford a Yoplait with their baloney on white. This stuff has got to stop. Rise up, America! Rise up!"
After video of Wasserman-Schultz was shown, Miller "joked" that the woman sitting next to her mustn't be eating well because she "looked like hell."
"Empty-headed addled per-mannequin" - Really? I guess that lacking any actual substance for his attacks, he went to the tried and true sexist methodology of insulting a woman's appearance. Funny, when Palin's critics mocked her intellectual ability, without even alluding to her appearance, the right wing went ballistic; but it's OK, on Fox News, to deride Rep. Wasserman-Schultz with impunity. The thing about the "perm" is interesting given that Fox contributor Monica Crowley, on Fox News, referred to Wasserman-Schultz, as "she of the angry perm." The reality is that Ms. Wasserman Schultz might have, as do many folks of Jewish ancestry, naturally, lovely curly hair. One wonders if Ms. Crowley is sporting blonde extensions but I digress...The point is that Wasserman-Schultz' hair has nothing to do with anything. But Dennis Miller, who isn't exactly GQ cover-boy material, has made it so.
Guess that if Bill O'Reilly didn't have double standards, he's have no standards at all?!
With all my love,

How grade school can you get? Does she have cooties? It doesn’t matter if they have ever won homecoming queen, or a beauty contest, oh wait…I’m mistaken… Fox News does when it comes to hiring women. With men, you can look like Dennis and Bill and still get on the air.
And if we start talking about looks these two blotchy old has beens shouldn’t be talking, they will never make the list of the 100 sexiest men alive. If I was stuck with either one of them on a island in the middle of the Pacific I would throw myself to the Sharks.
