The removal of Lee Greenwood's right wing national anthem, "Proud to be an American," from a school graduation program is essentially a local NY City issue. But in what appears to be a shameless attempt at race baiting, Fox News has taken quite the interest in taking this issue national. Bill O'Reilly has threatened to send his producer/stalker, Jesse T Watters, to harass the school principal responsible for this latest, bogus right wing outrage. Fox & Friends has reported on story. And Fox Nation, the website for "those opposed to intolerance," ran a straight up race baiting thread, complete with photo of African-American school principal Greta Hawkins, asking if she "hates America." And now they have another thread which is full of the vile racist comments that the "proud to be American" Fox Nation denizens are noted for.
The Fox Nation thread is an article by the perpetually outraged Fox radio culture clubber Todd Starnes. They report that Ms. Hawkin, who has become "the target of racist rants," refused to meet with NY GOP state rep, Michael Grimm who wants to give the students a copy of Lee Greenwood's book. Starnes didn't mention that Grimm is under investigation, by the FBI, for possible fund raising illegalities. And as usual, the thread has generated the kinds of commentary that makes Fox Nation a special place that gives new meaning to the term "ugly American."
Amazing, this is 2012 - yet this is the kind of putrid commentary heard by whites who brutalized blacks during the Jim Crow years and the Civil Rights era. And these ignorant bigots are the same folks who complain about our educational system and profess to be "pro-life" Christians. It's no wonder that the US is falling behind the rest of the world on so many matrices. The last comment is something that you would see on a white supremacist website. But it sure makes me "proud to be an American" yesireee!!!!
You might want to e-mail Fox Nation about this.
We know how these frauds operate. They can dish it out, but they can’t take criticism.
Please do so, BillO. In fact, send him to the school grounds, so I can watch NYC School Security and the NYPD arrest Watters for being on school property w/o permission . . .
