Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum, each formerly on the Fox News payroll, have announced their intention to attend Donald Trump’s veterans event that is designed to distract attention from the Fox News debate tonight.
From The New York Times:
The move is basically a win-win for all involved. Mr. Huckabee will get more attention than he’s been able to garner in months, and he will be affirming Mr. Trump’s decision to skip the debate. What’s more, it helps shift attention away from Senator Ted Cruz, Mr. Trump’s main competitor in the race, and the candidate who is appealing to the evangelical voters that helped Mr. Huckabee win in 2008.
… Another low-polling former caucuses winner, Rick Santorum, has also been very aggressively criticizing Mr. Cruz, but not Mr. Trump.
As anyone who has even glanced at the news lately knows, Trump has decided to boycott the Fox debate and hold his own event that supposedly benefits veterans. That has roiled Fox News like nothing else I’ve ever seen.
Surely Huckabee, a former Fox News host, and Santorum, a former Fox News contributor, knew they were sending an FU to Fox News with their decision to throw in with Trump tonight.
The Donald Trump stake into Fox News’ heart may have just gone a bit deeper.

It has been a long time coming (I know I’ve been expecting it any minute FOR YEARS) but the collapse and self-immolation of the Republican Party is upon us. Let us smirk, wag fingers and dance to exotic rhythms. The real House of Cards is collapsing!!!
