Sean Hannity Airs Deceptively Edited Video Of Leon Panetta's Benghazi Testimony

Posted by Ellen -394pc on February 10, 2013 · Flag

Just because Sean Hannity is outraged over deceptive editing by other media outlets is no reason not to engage in that practice himself! How else to explain his "major bombshell" about President Obama being "virtually absent" during the Benghazi attack? And "forgetting" to air the testimony of General Martin Dempsey who made a point of correcting the record to say that the staff was engaged in the way it "normally" works.

As Media Matters reported, the Hannity show's deceptively edited video was a reiteration of a smear made in other right-wing media. And it followed on the heels of Fox's Martha MacCallum's selective reporting on other remarks by Dempsey on Benghazi - that unlike the perception in the media that the attack went on for hours, there were two brief attacks, many hours apart.

Here's what's not included in Hannity's "bombshell" video, from a transcript by Media Matters (which also has video of the testimony):

AYOTTE: But just to be clear, that night he didn't ask you what assets we had available and how quickly they could respond and how quickly we could help those people there --

PANETTA: No. I think the biggest problem that night, Senator, is that nobody knew really what was going on there.

AYOTTE: And there was no follow up during the night, at least from the White House directly?

PANETTA: No. No, there wasn't.

DEMPSEY: I would, if I could just, to correct one thing. I wouldn't say there was no follow-up from the White House. There was no follow-up, to my knowledge, with the president.  But his staff was engaged with the national military command center pretty constantly through the period, which is the way it would normally work.

But, apparently, Hannity feels that playing the Major Media Victim entitles him to deceive with impunity.

I doubt if any informed person can find one example of Hannity’s programming that isn’t totally deceptive. While he never deserved to become a “star”, his star is falling rapidly. America will be a better place when he is off the airwaves forever.

Iran Aware, I saw much of the hearing while it happened – and Hannity’s edited version is deceptive.

I like this guy, Sean Hannity.

No wonder Jabba the Ailes named him as the only Republican in his whore house, er, stable.

He is great for the ratings among cretins, too.

GOP senator threatens to put the department of defense and the CIA on hold stalling the nominations over Benghazi:

Fox News approved.

BTW, here’s the full, 3 hour, 24 minute testimony. Just so Iran Aware can say he say it with a straight face before he tries lying to us again:

Fox News, RW radio and conservative websites have tried lying about what he said, all you need is one run through the whole thing to know every lie they told in perfect detail. They were that sloppy this time.

@unaware troll. You lie. You did not watch CSPAN. But guess what troll. I did. The un-edited version is nothing like kkklannity’s edited version. Had you actually watched CSPAN, you’d know this.

It’s sad that you’ve allowed yourself to be brainwashed by the neocon/teabaggers. It’s you who should do research besides listening and swallowing the FoxGOPTV and right-wing bullshit.

MSNBC does it, it’s rolling scandal about media bias. FOX does it, it’s a weekday.
@iran, no research was required, i just watched an un-edited version, which gave a different conclusion than the edited version.

Sean is just like a spoiled 10 year old with a microphone. He lost the fight on the ‘playground’
so he’s gonna payback the person who hurt him AND all his friends!
All he does now is whine & cry about how he is soooo
picked on and bullied!
His comeback?
Name calling! He has a name for everybody from calling the POTUS “The Annointed One” to Rahm “Deadfish” Emanuel, he has a name for everyone.
It’s very unprofessional & immature but well, that’s
sean!!

Apparently, Hannity thinks that because he's a BIG MEDIA VICTIM that entitles him to deceive with impunity.
