The normally placid and mild-mannered Dana Perino lowered the boom on her conservative colleagues on The Five when they talked up Donald Trump’s immigration plan.
Cohost Geraldo Rivera called Trump’s racist plan a “massively inhumane proposal.” He added, “Can you see this whole notion of citizen-born children in the United States being forcibly deported to be with their undocumented parents in the country of origin?”
But it was Perino who really smacked down the whole thing.
PERINO: This has been my problem from the beginning. It sounds good and it’s totally unworkable and impractical and it will never happen! And you’re selling a bill of goods to make them feel better! You’re not gonna bring back all the jobs from China! The Mexicans are not going to build the wall. They’re not gonna do it!
She also noted that when President Obama signed the DREAM Act, the approval rating was very high. “Something near 70%,” Perino said.
Then she really let her cohosts Jesse Watters and Tom Shillue have it.
PERINO: I would love to see you and you have to go find some families, round them up and say, “Sorry, I know you’ve been here for several years, I know your children were born here in the Bronx, but you - you’re from Costa Rica, you’re all out of here.” …I don’t want any federal employee to have to do what is so asinine that you guys are coming up with.
Watch it below, from the August 17 The Five and maybe you’ll understand why Perino is the Republican I respect the most on Fox News.
