Stuart Varney whined that pundits have “missed the point” about Donald Trump’s popularity: It’s Obama’s fault and the pundits won’t admit it.
VARNEY: There is an orgy of analysis about Trump’s incredible run; the pundits are having a field day. I think a lot of them have missed the point. Trump is popular because so many voters have really had it with President Obama. It is the president who is at the center of the citizens’ righteous anger. The pundits tiptoe around this. They rarely name the president as the source of Trump’s support. It’s usually some vague anger or exclusion.
“He’s touched a nerve,” they say. “He’s using the language of the street to reach everyday people” or “He tells it how it is.” That’s all true but at the heart of the anger is the failed presidency of Barack Obama.”
Varney began to smear Obama with the “secret Muslim” dog whistle.
VARNEY: Many everyday, churchgoing Americans are outraged at the president’s failure to help Christians who are being slaughtered and persecuted around the world. He doesn’t lift a finger.
Really? I was not aware it was the United States’ job to go around the world defending Christians.
VARNEY: They are not happy with the president’s perceived tilt away from Judeo-Christians.
Varney also accused Obama of “go(ing) around the Constitution to make illegals legal” and and “the utter failure to secure the border.”
“Of course people are angry, but it’s not some vague discontent. It is burning anger at what President Obama has done and what he has done in our name,” Varney added.
Varney concluded by attacking pundits for not acknowledging this “truth,” even though Varney didn’t cite a single piece of evidence or statistic to back up his claim.
VARNEY: It is Donald Trump who has given voice to the outrage over the president’s performance. The pundits know this but they won’t say it. If they say it, they admit those failures and this they will not do. Yet again, Donald Trump has turned the political world upside down. He’s running against the president and his failures and that’s why he’s winning.
That’s right, Trump's success has nothing to do with the nearly $30 million in free airtime Fox gave Trump in the second half of 2015 nor how Fox has worked tirelessly to promote Trump’s presidential candidacy. Or is that something Fox pundits know but won’t say?

But Varney fails to acknowledge that because THAT does NOT help explain tRump’s “popularity.”
*I refuse to call him “my Senator.”
