Eric Bolling opened today’s The Five show by “just practicing” his Spanish. It was his way of suggesting that America as we know it will disappear thanks to the immigration reform bill that passed the Senate earlier.
Bob Beckel was not impressed. “I’ve heard you open a lot of shows, but that one really took me by, it got my attention.”
“Which do you take issue with?” Bolling asked.
“Well, first of all, your Spanish I take issue with,” Beckel said. “I think that it, it is probably fair to say that whenever there’s a massive immigration of ethnic groups into this country going back 150 years, they’re always going to say that the landscape is going to change. They did it with the Irish. Remember when the Irish need not apply? They did it with the Italians. I think that we’re trying to, jumping to conclusions here by suggesting that 11 million undocumented workers are going to change the landscape of America, but I think there are people who believe that. But I just don’t think it’s going to happen.”
“It will change the landscape,” Bolling insisted. “You let, allow 11 million people a path to amnesty, a path to citizenship, you will change the landscape.”
Leave it to Fox News to appeal to fear and bigotry to promote its conservative agenda.

Yeah, the face of America is changing (i.e. becoming browner much to many conservatives’ chagrin?) and folks on the right like Bolling, FOX’s irritable bowel*, automatically paint it as a negative for America that must be hyped for effect. Fear mongering is all these morons at FOX “news” have left in the little bag of tricks.
Heads up right-wingers! As per old Gibby’s implied suggestion, it looks like America’s white folks better get busy making babies, you know, to keep America majority white and English-speaking forever. Come on, Bolling, you only have 1 kid – if you really love America as she is now, you’d better get with it. LOL!

Like I said over at Media Matters: given the problems he and his fellow wingnut teabaggers have with English, opening in Spanish might not be such a bad idea:
