Poor Scottie Nell Hughes. It's just fine and dandy for her to mock transgender folks and insult lots of other people; but when SNL mocks her, it's a whole different story - one, I might add, that's as inane and incoherent as her usual Fox News abetted partisan blather.
Last Saturday's SNL "cold open" was a mock CNN interview hosted by Kate McKinnon's Kate Bolduan who spoke with Cecily Strong's Scottie Nell Hughes who, in real life, appears on cable news as a Donald Trump surrogate. When "Bolduan" asked "Hughes" about Trump's problems with women, "Hughes" responds: “As a woman, I like Donald Trump, but as a full-blown nutjob, I freaking love him." The rest of the skit features "Bolduan" growing increasingly impatient with Hughes increasingly crazy word salad.
Despite Hughes" tweet, in which she claimed to be flattered by Strong's satire, Hughes was not a happy camper. In an interview with The Blaze, she said that "tears have been shed." She whined that she was "shaken" because she was unaware that this was coming. And, naturally, she lapsed into that patented right wing victimhood: “You’ve never known ‘SNL’ to parody any conservative in a positive way — either male or female." When her children asked her why people think she is crazy, Hughes, who has no qualms about attacking anybody who doesn't drink the right wing tea, responded that "mean people and bullying doesn’t stop in elementary school. It continues throughout your life.” Awww.
But underscoring just why folks might think that she's a few tea bags short of a pot, she gave us this: "Talk about the ultimate shaming, the ultimate sexism. What does SNL want me to do, be barefoot and pregnant or maybe just talk about parenting issues?" Sooo, a parody of Hugh's pro-Trump (examples here) partisanship is sexist? Huh???
Poor Scottie. She can't take it; but she can sure give it. On "The Factor," she alleged that there was a feminist plot behind the call for NFL head Roger Goodell's resignation. During her screed she attacked Hillary Clinton:
"I think the sorority house of the Hillary Clinton-ites are getting ready to demonize all men. I thought they would do just the Republicans? Because they knew when you point out the truth, they want to be able to call you a chauvinist. They want to call you a pig."
The crazy continued on Fox & Friends where she informed us that liberal women are "going after the men." During another Fox & Friends propaganda piece about "hormone therapy for illegals," she mocked those who are transgender: “
And the only thing I want to do talking about transgender and helping them be a female is given them a pair of [Anti-immgrantAZ sheriff] Joe Arpaio’s pink boxers as we send them back to their country. They just want to raise your taxes to pay for these things, you wonder why the people are angry today."
And, while she claims that her main man Trump's comment, that women should be punished for abortions, was "misconstrued" - and a liberal media "trap," she seems to have the same mindset in that she once said that women who have abortions should be imprisoned - even women who have been raped!
My only criticism of the SNL piece was that it wasn't harsh enough. Hughes is way crazier than she was portrayed!
Back in the old days SNL really was parody.
Richard Nixon (Dan Akroyd) to SOS Henry Kissinger (John Belushi), “Get on your knees and pray Jew Boy!”.
