Tea Party “news director” Scottie Nell Hughes thinks the demands for NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s resignation are nothing less than retaliation against the league for not “kowtowing” to “PC standards.” Not even Bill O’Reilly seemed to buy it.
With a ghoulish smile reminiscent of Sarah Palin at her meanest, Hughes also revealed a similar style of syntax:
The only thing left that the progressives have not been able to sit there and get to be cowards to their PC standards is, basically, the NFL. We just saw it without the changing of the Washington Redskins name. We’ve seen it with the gay football player that was released, just based on performance, and they are upset. They’re upset at Roger Goodell for not kowtowing to ‘em. So this is kind of retaliation. …It’s why Gloria Allred’s calling for his resignation.
…They want to sit there and do everything they can and also, there’s a little bit of money involved in the NFL that they’re kind of frothing over. They would love to have those dollars in their pockets.
But wait, there’s more. Hughes seems to see this as the first wave of feminism that’s going to wash over us all as we enter the 2016 presidential campaign. Hughes sneered:
I think the sorority house of the Hillary Clinton-ites are getting ready to demonize all men. I thought they would do just the Republicans? Because they knew when you point out the truth, they want to be able to call you a chauvinist. They want to call you a pig.
…Now, they’re going to take a playbook that they used to do in the 2008 and 2012 elections and they’re going to sit there and they’re going to make us to be a very sexist, chauvinist society. Therefore, when you go into that voting booth, if you don’t sit there and push that button for Hillary Clinton, you’re a chauvinist as well.
O’Reilly was skeptical. He pointed out that Clinton will need male voters as well as women if she hopes to win the election. “So I don’t know if the progressive strategy can be alienating men,” he said. He also questioned how that relates to the NFL scandals. “You’re putting a political component into what is largely a social situation.”
Oh, and the media seems to be in on this big feminist cabal. “Why is this all coming out right now?” Hughes asked. “It’s been going on forever. I don’t think anything that’s happened in the NFL has stopped because of this coverage right now. Nothing has been stopped.”
Hughes claimed that the media has seized on the incidents of NFL violence “to portray our society as being a very sexist society, which is exactly opposite from the truth.”
Then she tied that to both Clinton and Obama:
Yes, there are race issues in America but all of a sudden, there was always, everybody is racist, everybody. And so they sat there and said, when people went in the voting booth to vote for Barack Obama, they either voted for him because they liked the Democrat policies represented or they absolutely, they thought, you know what? We have a racist problem in our country. We’re going to stop it and having a black president would be a reason to stop it or number three, they wanted to change history. They wanted to be a part of changing history. I think you’re going to see answers two and three brought back from the playbook.
Got that?
You can watch Hughes spin her conspiracy theories below, from the September 19 O’Reilly Factor.
Shorter Hughes: “Grrrrr!”
