It's bad enough that Fox News, the official network for the War on Christmas, has committed absolute and utter heresy in their use of the profane "Happy Holidays" rather than "Merry Christmas" in articles, video titles, and as visual content. This obscenity was even uttered by Fox's Megyn Kelly and Sean Hannity. And while Fox's resident bible thumper, Mike Huckabee, was very careful to use the prescribed "Merry Christmas" during his Christmas whine message, he committed what Bill O'Reilly has said is the most grievous sin of all, y'all. The ad for Huckabee's radio show, on his website, says - wait for it - "Happy Holidays from the Mike Huckabee Radio Show." To make matters worse, on the "commentary transcription page" for December 24th, Huckabee wishes everyone a - wait for it - "Happy Holidays, America." What say you Bill O'Reilly!
I don’t recall where I read it, but someone made a comment that we’re almost to a point where someone’s going to have to start a “Save Thanksgiving” movement if we don’t want that holiday to be completely overwhelmed by “Christmas preparations.” (And I’m not so sure that wouldn’t be a good idea. I remember seeing Christmas candy displays and Christmas card displays getting set up on store shelves the week before HALLOWE’EN.)
“proscribed” has just about the opposite meaning of the word you’re looking for, “prescribed.”
It’s people like Huckabee who are driving people to other religions or to atheism.
