Fox News Still Running Fox & Friends Lie: Obama Met "Pirate" Yesterday

Posted by Priscilla 0.40pc on September 20, 2012 · Flag

In yet another attempt to smear President Obama, Fox News is pushing the meme that President Obama lied when he told Israeli President Netanyahu that he doesn't have time to meet with him. (Netanyahu told David Gregory it was scheduling conflict). To support this notion that Obama is ignoring Netanyahu (who, according to Netanyahu has met with him more than any world leader) Fox & Friends ran a photo, sourced from Drudge, that purports to show Obama meeting with an actor dressed as a pirate. While Fox& Friends claimed this took place yesterday, the "meeting" took place in 2009!  Fox News should be walking the plank for yet another lack of truthiness. But they don't seem to care. AAARRGGG!!!!!

This all started yesterday when Obama tweeted a photo of himself, with the "buccaneer," in order to celebrate "Talk Like a Pirate Day." It was quickly seized and deceptively framed by Drudge. The correct information, however, was available, on The Daily Mail, 10 hours ago. The photo is shown on a 2009 blog entry. But Steve Doocy, during their "pic of the morning" segment, "joked" that this was a "quick look at what" the president is "up to." Brian Kilmeade, in noting that Obama has no time to meet with Netanyahu, later stated it as fact - after Media Matters reported the lie.

Even the conservative Washington Examiner has reported the true story which was posted too late for Fox & Friends; but Fox News Insider still has it. Their headline: "President Obama Finds Time To Meet With Pirate On "International Talk Like a Pirate Day." Guess it's not a lie if you believe it!  Shiver me timbers, matey!

And word to the curvy couch potatoes - If you want to source Drudge, ya might want to do some fact-checking first. Just sayin...

Wonder if the three stooges friends will find the time to correct this? Just askin...

“Wonder if the three friends will find the time to correct this?”

Unintentional errors should be corrected. But Fox tells intentional lies. No correction necessary.

Well, I do confuse my ‘yesterdays’ fairly often…but then I don’t have a ‘news’ blog.
Apparently, neither does Drudge.

“Fox News should be walking the plank for yet another lack of truthiness.”

Priscilla, if Fox had walked the plank for EVERY instance of their lack of truthiness, they’d have been in Davy Jones’ Locker and covered with barnacles long ago . . .

Word to the couch potatoes: if you source Drudge — you’re already beyond help.

After the completion of today’s program Fox & Friends tweeted the following…

The picture we aired this morning of the President & the pirate was from 2009

Notice it was not an apology to the President or their audience.

And I am relatively sure Cap’n Slappy and Old Chumbucket and Webwench did appreciate any extra traffic and sales the free publicity that F&F and the President gave them.

LOL, Fox disappeared it. Love their “That’s Embarrassing” thing though. Has multiple meanings.

I’ve seen speculation that the “pirate” was actually either Ehud Barak or Ariel Sharon. Although either of those guys would have been wearing a different uniform and in Sharon’s case he’d be perfect for the Fux Noise audience having been dead these several years and comatose for a while prior to transitioning.
Truman- you’ve probably got it right difficult as that may be the Fux Noise audience, especially for this quintet of twits, probably is both dumber and more unaware.

Daddy Douchebag and Brain are eternally grateful that their viewing audience is actually as dumb and unaware as they are.

Chris Merlich, sounds like Roger Ailes learned his lesson from his Nixon days, destroy the tapes.

Lakeview Greg, that was funny.

Well, well, well, “Page Not Found”.

FOX “News” historical revisionism in all it’s laughable, easily-debunked glory.

@Joseph: Oh so true, so true.

@doors17: ditto, with spades.

This past week has not been the best of times for Fox & Friends. Fox doesn’t need to find their own Jon Stewart since they already have these three to provided comedy gold.

Ok. So even the most shit-filled Obama hater would be able to notice that in the pirate picture, President Obama’s hair is solid black…not the salt and pepper hair he has now. It’s only obvious that it’s an older picture. Duh.

I can see the 3 stupid FoxFiends of the curvy couch falling for it, but I guess I was wrong to give Matt “the egg man” Sludge more credit than that.

Priscilla, Priscilla, Priscilla. Thank you for the laugh.

“Fact-checking” at FoxNoise? Where do you think the Romney campaign came up with the idea that they don’t need to rely on fact-checkers? The folks at Fox rely on their own set of facts. If Obama were to say, “The sky is blue and the grass is green,” the FoxNoise folks would say “Obama’s lying again because everyone knows the sky is green and the grass is blue” even as they show an exterior shot that actually showed blue skies and green grass.

In Fox World admitting to errors is weakness, and only to be done when one can no longer keep one’s head in the sand. I’ll bet the Fox Friends don’t even know about their blunder and won’t unless some producer decides to tell them.
