Fox Nation, a blog for those "opposed to intolerance," is obviously an apartheid state inhabited by those who have no qualms about flaunting their bigotry and ignorance. When right wingers whine about being accused of racism, they have only to check out the comments on a Fox Nation thread which commemorates a man who lead a movement in which people, both black and white, were brutalized and killed in the struggle to secure civil rights for Americans whose suffering did not end with emancipation. In reading the Fox Nation comments, it's readily apparent that Martin Luther King, Jr's goal of creating a nation where all people would be respected, regardless of the color of their skin, is a long way from happening.
Wonder how long it will take for this thread to be shut down?
But there are a few folks who can’t get past this barrier. They can’t see past the pigment.
You aren’t being assaulted. No one wants to ‘put you down’. No one wants you under their thumb. You’re just…well…paranoid.
No one wants you,of all people to marry someone you don’t want to marry. No one is forcing you to marry someone of a different race or sex(tho I’m sure you have some problem with both). In fact, the rest of humanity doesn’t give a shit what you do with yourself.
The unfortunate reality is,the only person persecuting you,is YOU. Black, white, red, brown…we’re all Homo Sapiens. We’re all the same inside and out. Some of us are just trying to get the human race to survive into the future, while others try and drag it back to the past.
With or without the ‘just’.
It should say,“His ‘Dream’ wasn’t about having…”
The ‘just’ shoudln’t have been there. That’s what I get for not proof reading! Mea Culpa.
The problem with these people is,they forget that MLK wasn’t just about Black folks. His ‘Dream’ wasn’t just about having Black peole run the country,or lord it over white people,or yellow,or red. MLK’s dream was about ALL PEOPLE being equal. Where we stand in soldiarity for the good of our species. Where we offer a hand to our brother or sister regardless of race,or creed. A dream where all our children are important to each of us. A dream where love and friendship trumps petty differences.
These people do not have the ability to digest that. They are those that lack empathy. They do not have the ability to walk a mile in another’s shoes,or feel compassion for them. Unfortunately they’ll always be with us,these individuals. But it’s heartening to know that the time of their control is long past. Where their ideals aren’t propagated through our schools and churches. Through our government.
So let them rail and bluster. We,the human race will march on without them,as they dwindle into obscurity.
They’re scared because they are slowly and VERY painfully beginning to realize that Obama will win in 2012.
I was listening to some recounting of some the hardships and hatred to which anyone who was part of Dr. King’s movement were subjected. Judging by those comments above from Fox Nation, the intensity of the racial hatred has not diminished. The difference is that now it’s just not as loud. In 10-15 years when these morons have passed on, it will barely be a whisper.
We have our first black president, the right immediately refused to support him or give him one iota of the respect warranted by the office.
They also want to revoke the rights of gays, legal immigrants and certain rights of women and have even gone as far as to only let people who promised to do so run for president.
Not to mention that Christianity apparently the only religion they believe should be legal. All other religions can only exist with their permission.
They think corporations should be considered people, but that the poor are “parasites who should be left to die.”
Yeah, it’s all on the side you oppose, guys! Not saying there’s none on the left, but I can dig up 200 Fox Nation racists for every one they can dig up at Huffpo or Daily Kos. Just sayin’
