White House Refused To Talk To Fox News Sunday About Comey Firing

The White House only wants to talk to some Fox News shows about the firing of FBI Director James Comey, it seems and Fox News Sunday is not one of them.

The White House was willing to send Kellyanne Conway to discuss Comey's firing in a softball interview on MediaBuzz. But the White House refused to send anyone to appear on Fox News Sunday.

On Friday, Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace blasted the Trump administration for its handling of the Comey firing. Part of his complaint was that he had been unsuccessfully trying to book someone from the White House to discuss it on today’s show. “We can’t even reach anybody — they’re not available, they’re not answering the phone,” he said.

Apparently, someone from the Trump administration has since returned the call(s) but nobody was available to discuss Comey. At the beginning of today’s show, Wallace announced (transcript via Fox News):

WALLACE: We want to begin by telling you who you are not going to hear from today: the White House.

Since the president fired James Comey on Tuesday, we've been asking for a guest to explain the president's reasoning and discuss the fallout.

Saturday morning, White House officials that they would not put anyone out to discuss that. But they did offer senior officials to talk about the president's foreign trip this week. When we said we were going to focus on Comey for at least the first half-hour of this program, they put those officials on other shows.

Watch it below, from the May 14, 2017 Fox News Sunday.

No wonder why the Trump White House is hiding from anyone but select Fox News sycophants. A poll prior to the Colmey firing showed The Donald down to an abysmal 36% approval rating with even some erosion among his white, uneducated base.

The top 3 words respondents used to describe Trump:

1. Idiot (39%)
2. Incompetent (31%)
3. Liar (30%)

The answer is simple. Wallace is less likely to just follow the company line. He may lean right but he isn’t in the Hannity camp where everything Trump does is perfect and can never be questioned. You can be sure Hannity and Fox & Friends, among others, will make up for this oversight this week.
