A new study of civility in America found that Fox News is considered the least civil of all the news networks, the New York Times, USA Today and PBS.
The study, conducted by Weber Shandwick and Powell Tate, in partnership with KRC Research, found that political incivility is the new normal. However, while Fox News got the highest marks for incivility (35%), the majority of respondents (53%) did not find it uncivil. Nor did it rank all that worse than MSNBC (31% found it uncivil vs. 49% who found it civil) or CNN (31% found it uncivil vs. 53% found it civil).
However, what's the most damning is the overall picture the study paints about the media as a whole:
The media receives low grades in the incivility wars. A considerable 62% called out the media as uncivil in this year’s survey. While this is considerably lower than last year’s incivility rating of 74%, it ranks among the top five most uncivil aspects of American life. A contributing reason to that perception may be that the vast majority of Americans agree that the media is more interested in controversy than facts (82%).
...Regardless, cable news outlets are considered more uncivil than their broadcast counterparts.
H/T Huffington Post.
Wow. Shocker. Not.
.
Tell ya what- I’ll give them a million dollars to come up with that humans can’t live without air. I’m sure there’s three or four people who still don’t know that. Bet they all watch Fox News, too.
