Stephen Colbert Eviscerates Eric Bolling’s Latest Bonehead Move

Posted by Headly Westerfield 98.60pc on March 09, 2012 · Flag

Yesterday’s award for Best Idiocy By A Fox “News” Anchor Named Eric Bolling would certainly have to be when he waved around a manila envelope on Fox and Friends and insisted it revealed a secret plan to reduce the price of gas to $2.50 a gallon.  He said he would reveal it only to the President of the United States of America if only the president would take some time out of his busy day and give Bolling a call.  Ever helpful to the president, Bolling held up his phone number on a white board but said he only wanted to hear from the president.  Geez, Bolling, even Glenn Beck showed more brains than that.  He passed the number to his red phone to the president quietly, so it would be free when the president called.  Bolling proved he didn’t care if the president ever got through, he was just performing a stunt.  Someone who didn’t seem to realize it was a stunt, and who is also a president (of a SuperPAC), is Stephen Colbert who had to find out what was in that envelope, so he called Bolling’s number: Video below the jump.

Eric Bolling’s gimmick really IS stupid. It just is. Broadcasters, print, already recognize this rather (recognized) stunt, but simply as a matter of normal TV new and opinion delivery regardless of any bias, or not, is simply already known to be sub-broadcast news at the national level down to the local level. I’m not addressing this as a Fox issue, although it also is. The other topic is just the blatant lameness of not knowing it just isn’t Kosher, nor how blatant the fallacy is.
It’s my degree, but I never did nor would go the commercial local or national TV for-profit news in any capacity (it’s a world unto itself, and I am something else. Why did I tout the ‘Fallacy’ screen name and constantly whining about critical thinking at my favorite media analysis site? I hope someday just to be able to start feeding ideas on stuff that I see when I get back to watching Fox (There are great guest blogs here, but I’m working on a different project, but want to chip in somehow.
NewsHounds IS part of the valid realm of news (media but news here ) analysis. Fox Nation, by the way, is not it’s counterpart over there where the orcs hang out.
By accepted description and whatever, critical thinking here is applied to seek the truth, and there are both rational secular, rational spiritual/philosophical, and religious (the good part RATIONALES (how do I underline here instead of cap?) for goodness, period. Honest media analysis for good, and specifically WHAT News Hounds addresses, is vital. You have Media Matters and New Hounds. Others, Huff, Daily/Colbert, etc., but this is an important (an absolute here) part of an important picture. In a not-snotty, but valid way, I think what I say is true. KEEP up the good work and everyone stay here and fight the fight. Fkn’a. I spend every day doing it “down the street”.
(underline implied ha ha : ) )
