Remember when Fox News anchor Heather Nauert promoted Ivanka Trump’s shoes? A few days later, Nauert was reportedly in the running for a new job as the spokesperson for the Trump administration’s State Department. Now, it’s official.
On February 17, 2017, The Ring of Fire website reported that Nauert was under consideration for the State Department job. That was just five days after Nauert tweeted support for Ivanka Trump’s merchandise after Nordstrom had decided to drop it. Nauert’s February 12, 2017 appears to have been deleted. But not before Ring of Fire caught the contents:
Watching Sun shows topic: #Nordstrom dropping #IvankaTrump -reminded me 2 buy. I’ll wear on @foxandfriends this week! pic.twitter.com/2UCQhk1Vzi
The Ring of Fire said the screenshot was of a pair of Ivanka Trump high-heeled shoes.
Now Nauert’s new job is official. She's also the second Fox journalist to join the Trump State Department. According to The Hill, Jonathan Wachtel, a producer on Fox’s United Nations beat, was previously named spokesman for the U.S. mission to the U.N.
No word on whether Wachtel promoted Ivanka Trump merchandise before getting hired.
