For all those who suspect Roger Ailes and Fox News work on behalf of Republicans even more than we know, our suspicions were just confirmed by a hand-written note in which Ailes offered his "off the record" help to then-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
The note, which was obtained by Gawker in a Freedom of Information Act request, reads:
Madam Secretary:
Great first month. You handled hearing beautifully. If I can be of help off the record—just call.
Warm Regards,
Roger
Gawker's John Cook noted drily, "I’m quite positive there are similar notes of encouragement from Ailes in the files of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Attorney General Eric Holder, both of whom are surely finding Fox News’ coverage to be a quite “helpful” right now."
Fox News: fair and balanced and offering secret assistance to Republican administrations.
There’s absolutely no context where he can be defended here.
Ailes is not to be trusted.
NOTE TO AILES
Tell the masses about those infamous private table parties for you and your buddies.
TOO LATE, JABBA
Both in the help for Dumbya and in the off-the-record aspects . . .
