Uhhhh…..sorry again, but ‘decency’ should not be a trait of convenience. Sometimes it takes a bit of courage to do the decent thing…..just because someone acts in a decent or honorable manner when it is convenient or advantageous, does not earn that person ‘decent’ or ‘honorable’ status. In Mitt’s case, he is just as likely to act dishonorable when his ass is on the line. His ‘ass’ is the only ass he’s concerned about….

Sometimes, it’s staring you in the face but you’re not seeing it: Isaac is a perfect case of the sort of thing no rational individual could expect to face on his/her own. That’s why people have always created some form of collective mechanism for the common good, including means of communication (roads, telephone, radio, TV) and services (schools, clinics, fire-fighters, police, care for the vulnerable, etc.).

The sort of individualism spouted by the republicans is a weird sort of self-delusional rhetoric whose only purpose might be to measure the extent to which those who hear are actually listening.

Now that America has had a Catholic president (I recall what the republicans had to say then and it wasn’t pretty) and a black president, it’s time for yet another fat white man whose main claim to fame might be that he can crack jokes?
I ask that because the worry that some of those jokes might be perceived as inappropriate came up repeatedly on today’s coverage of the convention by FNC.

The people who reacted with such scorn to Obama’s little reminder should prove him wrong by launching a small business in a place where there are no roads, no electricity, no running water, no (or poor) education and health care, no TV or telephone, and …. horrors … no internet. A big multinational may decide to make those investments on its own (mostly with sizeable contributions from government). A small business won’t survive let alone thrive if government is unable or unwilling to create an enabling environment.

I’m sure Romney knows that but his handlers – sorry, strategic advisors – probably told him to hold off until he’s elected before saying anything so obvious. The hypocrisy of politics at its best.

So far, my big takeaway is that Mitt Romney didn’t say, “You didn’t build it.” Oh, yeah, and he understands regular people.

With regard to Christie’s words on the need for both sides of Congress to work together, I can’t help wondering where he was over the past three or so years during which the Republicans circled their wagons to block practically everything proposed by the “other” side.

Another cause for wonderment: how can a supposedly educated and well-versed gentleman like Christie insinuate that the poor quality of education today in the USA is the fault of the current government?

I’m sure those are only two of the places in his speech that boggled the mind.

Completely missed Ms Romney’s speech: did she succeed in “humanizing” her husband. The comic value of FNC took a huge cosmic jump when they started using that verb. Gets me giggling, that does.

Sorry, but I’m not really certain that the Romneys are decent people. I find it hard to pin the ‘Decent’ award on a man that is so desperate to be president that he has manged to stand for nothing. He has flipped, flopped and wind-socked on every issue…and then made his nest on the side of one of the most found dangerous and harmful platforms the country has ever seen. And he’s managed to do all this while being a man that can afford to make a stand. He has been GIVEN money, power, and the opportunity to do decent things. Instead, And he has chosen to appear as little more than an aging, pitifully insecure and spineless coward that has nothing but his own best interests at heart.

Fox panel is cheering Ann’s speech, not so crazy about Christie. I have to rate it other way around.

The only thing is, he’s not saying much about Romney. It looks more like a “think of me in 2016” speech.

So Ann gives a speech about love….than Christie comes out and says it’s not about love, but respect…wait..what?!?

Yes they are good people. But they are people pursuing their careers – power and/or money are the goals. They deserve to succeed given their opportunities, ability and perseverance. They are also smart enough to know, at some level within their consciousness, that they are promoting an unfair playing field. Their success is predicated on the status quo (they believe) – they scratch the backs of big business, and they get the support they warrant. No part of their perceived needs is supported by improving the lot of the average person, no part is supported by stopping the ongoing destruction of the planet, no part is supported by attacking the poor opportunities in the many poor places in the USA and the world.

I admire the intelligence they display, but it is somehow vacuous intelligence.
They remind me of the money-obsessed Pharisees in the bible.

Christie’s not bad.
