Bill O'Reilly's producer Jesse Watters found yet another excuse to go to the beach and film young ladies in bikinis – and call it a Factor investigation. This time, he visited college students on spring break in order to “investigate” liberal indoctrination on college campuses. That’s right, no curricula examination, no interviews with professors or college administrators. Just the kids. In bikinis. He hit bonus paydirt when he was able to work a little Islamophobia into the mix.
O’Reilly set the “no spin” tone when he said at the beginning, “As you may know, mot college campuses in America are liberal. Full of left-wing professors and dopey kids spouting left-wing slogans. But recently, college liberalism has gotten out of hand, almost. So how bad is it? Jesse waters went to spring break to find out.
Enter Watters and skimpies and flimsies. We have no idea how Watters selected this group. For all we know, they were at a beach club for Republicans. But, predictably, one after another student talked about liberal professors. For all we know, they talked about conservative professors, too. But we saw none. Watters told O’Reilly later that only a few had mentioned having professors who were too conservative. Suspiciously, we saw one student tell Watters that Fox News “is their favorite.” Which pretty much puts the lie to the whole “colleges are brainwashing students to be liberal” meme. But Watters didn’t seem to notice.
But then Watters got this: “They tried to convert the entire class to Muslim religion.” The student said he got a B+ instead of an A because he challenged the teacher.
Watters bought it hook, line and sinker. He said he’s going to “look into” the situation.
Memo to Watters and O’Reilly: We are going to warn the professor that your hatchet job is on the way.
