Michigan And Arizona Primary - Open Thread

Posted by Ellen -7859.80pc on February 28, 2012 · Flag

I'm watching the Fox News coverage. Fox News just predicted Mitt Romney will "easily win" Arizona, "as expected." Michigan appears to be a different story. Fox is saying Romney holds a slim lead but it's too early to call. Ron Paul is predicted for third and Newt Gingrich fourth in MI.

What are you guys watching? Any thoughts?

Santorum is speaking now. Is this a concession speech?

Wee Nelson, right.

Just tweeted Gov. Brewer that I won’t visit AZ and won’t purchase AZ products.

Fox reporting “a sense of apathy” in AZ GOP voters.

Gov. Jan Brewer coming up on Fox. I just wrote to AZ Chamber of Commerce telling them I refuse to go to AZ while anti-American Brewer is in office.

Haha, MI Gov. Rick Snyder just called Romney a “great candidate” on Fox.

That last per Huffington Post tweet.

If anyone but Romney won Arizona, I’d be very surprised. Besides that their GOP worship him, Arizona is a mostly Mormon state. Mormons would vote for Bin Laden if he was LDS, because they think they’re the only people who have an answer- about anything.

MIchigan? Pyrric victory- Obama already has that state in November because you’d have to be a hopelessly biased moron to not see how his policies fixed their economy. 3.5% decline in unemployment, people who tried both Obama’s plan and Snyder’s alternative will tell you who got results.

It sure wasn’t Snyder- and Snyder’s failed policy came with the same martial law Republicans said Obama would bring.

Wee Nelson, I think so, too. How else to explain loss of Catholic vote in MI?
Ellen commented 2012-02-28 21:47:25 -0500 · Flag
Fox saying Santorum lost the Catholic vote in both MI and AZ. Hmmm.
Ellen commented 2012-02-28 21:46:29 -0500 · Flag
Romney up about 17,000 votes w/45% reporting.

mlp, agreed. There was a supposedly huge drop from Romney’s big lead but I’m guessing it went from big to comfortable.

I think you’re right, Ellen. Looks like Romney will still win MI by at least 2 points. Nate Silver had predicted ~1 pt for Romney. Methinks the major media was trying to pump a little drama into this reality show aka the GOP primary race. (to the bottom)

Ron Paul denies doing any deals with Romney re Rand Paul, says it would be wrong.
Ellen commented 2012-02-28 21:34:16 -0500 · Flag
Ron Paul projected to win 3rd in MI. That means Gingrich 4th.

I’m reading tweets saying that Santorum’s strength will not be enough to win.
Ellen commented 2012-02-28 21:16:24 -0500 · Flag
Romney up about 20,000 votes w/approx. 28% reporting in MI

I have a feeling Romney is going to pull this out. Whether that’s enough, I don’t know.
