Although Bill O’Reilly was pretty darned positive about President Obama’s new immigration policy Friday night, he trotted out Lou Dobbs, of all people, to attack, I mean “react” immediately afterward.
Bringing on Dobbs to comment on Obama’s change in immigration policy is kind of like bringing on Glenn Beck to discuss President Obama’s outreach to African Americans – which O’Reilly also did earlier in the week. Or like Neil Cavuto bringing on Arizona Governor Jan Brewer to discuss the policy change. It’s one way of cooking the Fox News books to get a guaranteed, strongly anti-Obama outcome.
O’Reilly made no mention of Dobbs’ history as a virulent immigrant-basher and birther. In fact, O’Reilly went out of his way to present Dobbs as reasonable and credible on the subject in his opening of the discussion:
“You and I have been covering this immigration thing for years. We both have the same mindset that the federal government has responsibility to uphold immigration law, that is secure the borders, make sure there’s not chaos down there and to make sure that people who come here are documented so we know who they are and where they are. That’s the law of the land. You want to change the law of the land? Get Congress to change it. So you and I agree on that.”
However, O’Reilly continued his mostly positive response to Obama’s announcement. Even Dobbs agreed it was a “brilliant political move” by the president.
O’Reilly also reiterated his calling out of Daily Caller reporter Neil Munro who heckled Obama during his announcement. O’Reilly’s criticism of Munro had somehow gotten edited out of the Fox News video of the previous segment. “I wouldn’t have yelled that question in the middle of his speech, would you?” O’Reilly now asked Dobbs.
Dobbs answered, “No, but… on a slow Friday afternoon at the White House it might have been a relief for some of them, at least in amusement.”
O’Reilly pressed. “But let’s just talk appropriateness… There has to be a decorum here or you look like – you know.” He never elaborated.
Dobbs replied, “I think the fact that we actually had a reporter challenge this president, it was probably as off-putting as it could be to Mr. Obama. Was it in decorum, was it the correct demeanor, professional demeanor? No, I agree with you on that. But the fact is, this president is constraining and controlling the national liberal media and God, it’s refreshing just to see a direct question asked on a specific point.”
O’Reilly laughed.
Video of the complete discussion is below.
No, Lou-ser — taking a leak after a long drive is “refreshing”; what the “reporter” from the Daily Holler did was just plain disrespectful . . .
“But the fact is, this president is constraining and controlling the national liberal media and God, itâs refreshing just to see a direct question asked on a specific point.â
Um, how the hell is holding a press briefing “constraining and controlling the [nonexistent] national liberal media”??
And Lou-ser, if you’re so impressed by Munro asking the President a direct question {which he didn’t}, you must’ve been OVERJOYED when Helen Thomas asked GW Bush why he went to war in Iraq back in 2006 — right?
.
Happy Fathers Day!
Restoration of a goverment as described begins with the total destruction of the corporate noise machine known as the MSM that continues to give unAmerican neo-fascist rats like Lou Dobbs a forum where his fabricated nonsense is presented to an apathetically ignorant audience without rebuttal.
And now we have this guy from the Daily Caller doing his best to disrupt a speaking appearance by the President, and then trying to argue the point afterward. Munro’s excuse rings quite hollow – he knew full well what he was doing, and went ahead anyway. He wasn’t trying to get in a question – he was trying to ask a “gotcha”, and felt it was a good enough hit that he could forego even waiting for the President to finish his remarks.
