Limbaugh Advertising Backlash Could Impact Hannity

Posted by Ellen -7842.60pc on March 12, 2012 · Flag

A recent memo reveals that 98 major corporations have decided that they do not want to advertise on radio programs "deemed to be offensive or controversial" and specifically names Sean Hannity's show as one of the examples.

From New York Magazine:

In a memo released yesterday, Premiere Radio Networks, which syndicates Limbaugh's show and is owned by the country's largest radio station operator, Clear Channel Communications, listed 98 major corporate advertisers who only want their spots run during programs free of content "deemed to be offensive or controversial." The memo then explicitly names (almost universally conservative) talk radio hosts Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, Tom Leykis, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck, and Sean Hannity as personas non grata. Their shows, advertisers believe, are "environments likely to stir negative sentiment from a very small percentage of the listening public."

New York Magazine also notes that these corporate advertisers are Fortune 500 companies such as McDonald's and Ford.

I also didn’t know about her niece being missing. I hope she is found safe and her disappearance was her own choosing. I don’t wish any harm to anyone just because I disagree with them on politics or what team they root for. The only pain I want them to experience is defeat on election day.

I read this morning that for two weeks Rush is temporally losing all his national advertisers. In the end I’m sure some will return but more will just say it isn’t worth the risk to our bottom line anymore. Not just to Rush, but all of his clones.

What I find humorous is the corporate lawyer speak that we hear every time something like this happens of while we find what was said deployable we respect the right for them to express their opinions and right to free speech. However they should be a big * saying unless of course this hurts our bottom line and effects the bonuses of upper management, then it’s screw that.

Aeris, I’m sorry… but that comment is not cool. It doesn’t matter how much Malkin offends you, it’s crossing the line to mock her greiving for her missing niece.

For those of you who don’t know the story, Michelle Malkin’s 18 year-old niece was abducted near Seattle a while back, and is believed to still be alive, though she has not yet been found. Malkin’s blog has a section dedicated to updates.

Seriously, Aeris- don’t go there. Not even with someone like Malkin. It’s not cool.

These frauds have tainted their advertisers’ brand name. It’s not worth advertising on their shows.

In this economy, businesses can’t afford to have their good name tangled in controversy. Advertising agencies will avoid placing future ads with these mouthpieces.

High End Hannocchio has a long history of hateful rhetoric. This is the same Franklin Square misfit who associated with a neo Nazi named Hal Turner, a man who was convicted of threatening the lives of judges. This is the same man who calls racist Patrick Buchanan “brother” on his radio show. We know Hannocchio’s record. It’s all on video.

Last January, we said 2012 would be a very bad year for conservatives mouthpieces. It’s not over by a long shot.

Coming down the pipe:

1. Clear Channel makes a bold decision.
2. Limbaugh and the rest of the conservative mouthpieces take the Republican Party down with them.
3. Hannocchio has some serious explaining to do.
4. Advertisers will target less controversial mouthpieces.
5. News Corporation’s troubles affect Fox “News” Channel.
6. A huge scandal changes the GOP primaries.

Karma will be fierce this year.

NOTE TO HANNITY

We can see you working at a construction site in the near future.

I can’t wait to hear how will the hate radio talkers will react to this. Will they shout and scream and name-call; will they try to equate freedom of speech with freedom to hate-talk-with-no-consequences as their listeners have come to expect, or will they tone it down and ‘cave’ in to what the ‘free-market’ demands?

RE: Kelstar’s comment about Michelle Malcanie, not having her own radio show.

I think she too busy to have one. Besides, one of her relatives is still missing, and is still dedicated to finding her.

Malcanlie has time to be a w—— on Insanity, ALWAYS saying “Democrat (sic) Party”.

One rumour I’ve been hearing a lot (and posted on a couple times), but there’s no official statement on is that Ailes now sees Hannity as a liability. If the boycotts reach Fox News, he’s the first to go.

Even without that, his struggling ratings and increasing damage to the network’s already worthless reputation could have him on the bubble as it is.

You see, this is what I like about this site, over Koldy’s Kave.

This topic about The Pig Man, would be verboten at Koldy’s Kave, because this “has nothing to do with cable news”.

Media Matters also has something about 30+ Cumulus Stations (some former Citadel Broadcasting, which are now owned by Cumulus) having The Pig Man, including WABC (a.k.a. WNAZI,) but it could benefit Fixed Noise Host Hucklenutz. Link: http://mediamatters.org/blog/201203120007

One final thing about webstreams on Cumulus Stations, the local advertisers (a.k.a the station’s own advertisers, see http://www.indybay.org/uploads/2012/03/02/rush_limbaugh_program_clock_xds_aff_rush_limbaugh_hour_1-2.jpg and anything shaded in green) are CENSORED in the Cumulus Webstreams, and any national advertisers (a.k.a. The people who buy airtime on The Pig Man’s show, see indybay link, but it’s in white) are also CENSORED in the Cumulus Webstreams. Also, bear in mind that The Pig Man rarely follows his own time clock.

To hear a UNCENSORED webstream of The Pig Man (which includes the local and national advertisers) use http://stream.digitalneedsservices.com:8000 (put this link in VLC, this link works best with VLC.)

Are there enough peddlers of overpriced gold around to keep all of these hatejocks on the air?

Coincidence? I think not.

Countdown until the noisemakers and their sheeple listeners complain about libruls “interfering with their free speech”: 5 . . . 4 . . . 3 . . . 2 . . .
