After Mike Huckabee called Hillary Clinton’s pledge to have women make up half her cabinet “an insult to women,” he proved who’s the real insulter by making fun of Clinton’s voice.
During a segment on the 2016 election, FBN host Deirdre Bolton set up Huckabee, now officially back at FOX as a contributor, to attack Hillary Clinton for pledging her cabinet would have 50% women.
Bolton started by playing a clip of Clinton being asked if she would pledge to have a cabinet that would be 50% women, just as Justin Trudeau, the new Prime Minister of Canada, promised and did.
Clinton replied, “I am going to have a cabinet that looks like America and 50% of America is women.”
Bolton followed up by saying, “So, Governor, I have nothing against women, for very obvious reasons, but when you choose a cabinet you just want the best people, right? And then everything else falls after that.”
Huckabee said gleefully, “I think this is an insult to women to say ‘I’m gonna pick you because of your gender.’ I think the better thing is to say, ‘I’m gonna pick the very best people I can possibly find and when I do that, it’s most likely that I’m gonna find at least half who will be women.’”
He continued attacking: “As a governor who had more women appointees in my cabinet than Bill Clinton did, I can tell you I didn’t go out and say, ‘Let’s make sure we have a quota.’ We didn’t have one. We looked for good people and we acted irregardless of their gender. I think it’s an insult to a person’s gender when you say, ‘Well, the reason you got the job is because biologically you fit the profile that we need.’”
Bolton added, “I agree because I think that it hurts that person’s credibility and her ability to do the job, actually.”
It was ironic for Huckabee to talk about “an insult to a person’s gender," when BuzzFeed caught him saying this, last summer:
“Now I wish that someone told me that when I was in high school that I could have felt like a woman when it came time to take showers in PE,” said Huckabee. “I’m pretty sure that I would have found my feminine side and said, ‘Coach, I think I’d rather shower with the girls today.’
Then, for more irony, Huckabee moved on to make a sexist attack on Hillary Clinton’s voice:
HUCKABEE: When I hear Hillary in some of those speeches, one you played just a moment ago, I gotta tell you it reminds me of a lady in my neighborhood growing up that we kind of considered the neighborhood scold. That would just scream at us and honestly, she just needs to learn to get a speech coach, take it down a notch because it’s very grating on the nerves when she raises that pitch way up there. Just a little speech counseling.
Bolton did nothing to challenge this insult. Instead, she asked how many baseballs he hit through his neighbor’s window.
Huckabee responded with a nasty comment, “Truthfully, Deirdre, not enough. Because I earned every baseball I hit through her window hearing that voice.”
So Huckabee believes his neighbor deserved to have her windows broken because of her voice? What a very classy comment.
For more class, Bolton laughed at his nastiness as she ended the segment.

But the likelihood of 100% christian (lower case “c”, characterised by a high degree of animosity, intolerance and even outright hatred, also in the name of JC) would have been high.
The current level of anti-woman feelings (am totally unable to use the word “thought”) among the Trump followers is – to my mind – a pretty good indicator of how lazy the feminist movement became over the past couple of decades. Lucky for us that Sanders has been awakening the younger generation and that Clinton will probably (so I trust) remember most of the planks of the exciting agenda that prevented the Dem campaign from succombing to total boredom.
.
On the other, Hillary wants a more representative cabinet yet FOX partisans fail to see how it will help her administration relate to the rest of America. Fair and balanced that. 👍
Unfortunately, Hillary is a poor communicator so I don’t know how well she can clearly make this point without feeding the FOX propaganda she’s pandering as well. Of course, there’s always the case to be made she may be. 😉
I thank the gods we’ll never know.
The more interesting information here is that Huckabee has, as predicted, wormed his way back onto the payroll at Fox News. I have a feeling they’ll re-establish his show by the fall. I also have a feeling there was a handshake agreement to do this when Huckabee amiably left Fox to pursue his doomed campaign. This is a very smart move by Huckabee. He knows what Trump’s chances are this fall, and going back to Fox News means he has a guaranteed paycheck and platform for the next four years.
Something tells me Ted Cruz was gritting his teeth when he found out. It’s no secret that the two men have issues with each other, or that Huckabee would want to block Cruz from taking his perch at Fox. This means that Cruz will need to find a different media outlet for his Huckabee-styled show once he’s out of the Senate. Looks like he’ll wind up at Glenn Beck’s outlet, assuming that it’s still operating in 2018.
