Can you believe it has been 10 years since “Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch’s war on journalism” premiered? You may think that Fox’s bias has always been common knowledge but it was that documentary that brought it front and center and forever shattered Fox’s “fair and balanced” mantra. I and the other original News Hounds are proud to have been a part of the effort. Our friends at Brave New Films, which produced Outfoxed, have put together a video honoring this groundbreaking film. Check it out (and you can even see me a time or two) after the jump.
For those who were not readers of our blog then, the News Hounds blog was created by the eight researchers for the film. We were energized by our work and we wanted to keep going in some way. Thus was born www.NewsHounds.us and our motto, “We Watch FOX so you don’t have to.” We did it all with some help from Outfoxed producer (and now CEO of NationBuilder, the company that currently hosts NewsHounds) Jim Gilliam. When the film launched, so did our blog.
To help commemorate the occasion, I reached out to the original News Hounds and invited them to share their thoughts. I received responses from Judy and Marie Therese and some thoughts from Deborah’s daughter. Sadly, Deborah, Nancy and Eleanor have each passed away. I will be posting the responses I received throughout the weekend.
So watch the film below and please share your own thoughts and reflections on the film and NewsHounds - or whatever other thoughts may be provoked - in our comments section.
Also, if you can spare some money for Brave New Films to keep up their good work using guerrilla media tactics, please consider donating here.
I can’t respond to each and every comment but I do read them all and appreciate them… more than I can say.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to bed. My eyes have been bothering me, which is one reason I have not been posting as much as usual.
I’ve got one more anniversary post, from Deb’s daughter, scheduled for the AM. Then it’s time to move forward!
Congratuations and thank you to everyone. Please let me know when the cake gets here.
So I’ve been most grateful that Ellen and her crew have over the years never let down their guard in reporting the lies and much worse that these people spew.
But even just reading about their effluent is dangerous for anyone with hypertension, etc!
Keep up this most important mission!
Joe
While googling around the internet, I stumbled on NewsHounds. What a great relief to read that there were people who articulated some of my thoughts.
Great work over the last decade. Please keep it up.
Nixon trainee Ailes and the overpaid senior producers/producers and mouthpieces are planning to do hit pieces on Democrat candidates running for president. They will use past videos, audios, and comments to destroy their campaign.
Coming down the pipeline:
Nixon trainee Ailes, the Fox “News” senior producers/field producers, producers, and mouthpieces are planning hit pieces for 2015 and beyond for any Democrat who runs for president in 2016. They have a digital library inside this horror chamber which they will use to gather past videos of comments, speeches and audio to use against them. Also, their allies at not-so Breitbart, Daily Foolish, and other worthless conservative “media” will supply them with material to damage Democrat candidates.
Ten minutes of listening to the early Sarah Palin had made me realise with undiluted horror, that this creature could be a heart’s beat away from taking over from the fairly reasonable but oh so elderly John McCain. That scared the living bejeebbies out of me so I googled “mad as hell at Fox” and found in Newshounds a posse of kindred spirits. Sanity at last and – for the most part – civil, thanks to Ellen’s careful monitoring.
It will take a lot of stamina to keep on watching Fox as they turn up the spin dial for the forthcoming elections. Thanks in advance to Ellen and the team for keeping the beacon of critical but civil discourse shining on the pitiful excuse for a “news” channel that is Fox.
A big hug to everyone.
Thanks to you and all others for being such loyal members of our community.
What I know about Fox these days is strictly from here…..and that’s more than enough.
Thanks, Ellen. Why you’re still sane is a mystery! (assuming that you are!)
