Thin-skinned Sean Hannity responded to scathing criticism of his Donald Trump sycophancy by crudely attacking CNN's Brian Stelter with just the kind of accusations that other conservatives have leveled against Hannity of late.
In case you missed it, Stelter has blasted Hannity as “unpatriotic” and “not interested in the truth” for unquestioningly promoting Trump’s baseless attacks on our election system and smears of Hillary Clinton’s health.
Instead of defending his professional behavior, Hannity must have figured we’d excuse it if he could smear Stelter's integrity enough. Ironically, Hannity’s complaint came while he appeared on Fox & Friends to promote what will almost certainly be an hour-long Trump lovefest tonight, in the guise of a “town hall.”
And, by the way, it’s not just Stelter and the so-called “liberal media” who think Hannity has jumped the shark with his unwavering devotion to Trump. As Media Matters reported, Hannity “is battling other conservative media figures over his unapologetic and unconditional defense of the candidate, with those media figures now calling his shilling for Trump 'slavish' and 'disgraceful.'”
Predictably, none of the three cohosts of Fox & Friends mentioned such inconvenient facts when Hannity visited this morning.
Cohost Steve Doocy helped validate right-wing attacks on Clinton’s health – by attacking Democrats.
DOOCY: Donald Trump brings up her physical stamina and some people go, “Oh, you can’t do that.” But, you know, go back to 2008, all the mainstream media, all they could talk about was, “John McCain is too old for the job.” Remember that?
As if Doocy’s standard for good behavior ever depended on Democrats.
“There’s a double standard, isn’t there?” Doocy complained.
And yet Doocy ignored the glaring double standard right there under his nose.
First, Hannity complained about Stelter (transcript excerpt via Media Matters):
SEAN HANNITY: The media is so in the tank, so on board for Hillary [Clinton], they’re so abusively biased.
BRIAN KILMEADE (CO-HOST): Right.
HANNITY: I literally watched this show on CNN over the weekend, and you got this little pipsqueak named Brian Stelter, and he allowed this arrogant professor from the Kennedy School of Journalism to talk about Trump being a demagogue and demagogues like Trump become dictators. That’s the type of coverage that CNN offers in this presidential race as they literally kiss Hillary Clinton’s ass and Obama’s ass every day.
But when cohost Ainsley Earhardt asked what we can expect from tonight’s town hall, Hannity started to behave like his own head was up Trump’s ass. Which "team player" Earhardt ignored.
HANNITY: I actually thought yesterday’s speech by Trump was the best speech he gave and I also think it creates a great paradigm for him to follow the next 84 days of this campaign.
You can bank on the fact that this Curvy Couch Crew will continue to ignore this double standard after Hannity’s Trump-mercial tonight.
Watch the hypocrisy below, from the August 16 Fox & Friends.
The Stop Hannity Express says Hannocchio plants a big smooch on Trumpster’s azz every night. We think he loves Trumpster more than Merri Jill.
The conservative masses have turned against this old hawk, and it’s driving him nuts. He can’t handle the pressure against him. His use of profane language in public is a result of his frustration with the Republican party. His opinions don’t matter anymore with Republicans. He’s obsolete and irrelevant to them. They’ve dropped him like a hot rock. But you will never read this on The Cable Game. Their mission is to protect the master.
Coming down the pipeline:
1. More trouble for Ailes.
2. More trouble for Fox “News” Channel.
3. Hannocchio’s emotional breakdown.
4. Major changes at the Foxies coming.
5. On-air mouthpieces exiting this disgraced network.
6. Moles spill more dirt on this hideous network.
NOTE TO HANNITY
You are an embarrassment to the family. The profane/loser husband of a Christian woman who studies theology and does pastoral counseling, and volunteers at faith-based/charitable organizations raising funds for various causes. How humiliating!
Hitler had his Nuremberg rallies to reminisce over in his final days. Trump has his glory days of events packed with Archie Bunkers and sharing milkshakes with his adoring buds at Fox News.
“This insane madman is leaving a trail of destruction everywhere! Oh no! He ran over a little old lady in the crosswalk! Now he crashed into a school bus full of orphans! He’s still going! Oh no! A group of nuns on the sidewalk! Whew,… he only slowed down long enough to flip them the bird. Now he’s…”
Foxies think the mere mention of criticism of a conservative is equal to one of their endless obsessions like #Benghazi! I don’t think so, clowns.
Despite all my satirical Nazi analogies poking fun at Hair Hilter… errrr… Der Furor… errrr… Trump, I don’t necessarily think it’s a good idea for CNN to host a segment discussing a narcissist like Trump going full dictator. That said, coming from a network that can’t pass by any crackpot conspiracy theory smearing Hillary Clinton like she’s murdering DNC workers, Fox News needs to knock of any criticism of others.
Apparently Hannity doesn’t know the meaning of the word “literally”.
