GOP Civil War! Huckabee Goes To Bat For Akin

Posted by Ellen -7859.80pc on August 23, 2012 · Flag

Mike Huckabee - who is speaking at the Republican Convention next week - has written a letter not just standing up for Rep. Todd Akin but slamming his fellow Republicans for trying to run him out of the Missouri Senate race. Priscilla noted that Huckabee bonded with Akin on the radio show a few days ago. This letter takes things to a whole new level.

The letter, via Politico, states:

The Party’s leaders have for reasons that aren't rational, left [Akin] behind on the political battlefield, wounded and bleeding, a casualty of his self-inflicted, but not intentional wound. In a Party that supposedly stands for life, it was tragic to see the carefully orchestrated and systematic attack on a fellow Republican. Not for a moral failure or corruption or a criminal act, but for a misstatement which he contritely and utterly repudiated. I was shocked by GOP leaders and elected officials who rushed so quickly to end the political life of a candidate over a mistaken comment in an interview. This was a serious mistake, but it was blown out of proportion not by the left, but by Akin's own Republican Party...

...From the spotlights of political offices and media perches, it may appear that the demand for Akin’s head is universal in the party. I assure you it is not. There is a vast, but mostly quiet army of people who have an innate sense of fairness and don't like to see a fellow political pilgrim bullied. If Todd Akin loses the Senate seat, I will not blame Todd Akin. He made his mistake, but was man enough to admit it and apologize. I'm waiting for the apology from whoever the genius was on the high pedestals of our party who thought it wise to not only shoot our wounded, but run over him with tanks and trucks and then feed his body to the liberal wolves. It wasn't just Todd Akin that was treated with contempt by the thinly veiled attack on Todd Akin. It was all the people who have faithfully knocked doors, made calls, and made sacrificial contributions to elect Republicans because we thought we were welcome in the party. Todd Akin owned his mistake. Who will step up and admit the effort being made to discredit Akin and apologize for the sleazy way it's been handled?

Grab the popcorn!

Dusty, try this one:

“When you start a fire, be to windward of it. Do not attack from the leeward.”

That actually is from Sun Tzu, and it fits better.

Akin didn’t just misspeak. He pulled back the curtain a bit too much on the rightwing attitude toward women, religion and abortion. The religious certitude that declares a fertilized egg to be a equivalent to a human being requires a certain certitude of thought that does not allow room for such things as pregnancy due to rape, or abortion to save the mother’s life. These things can’t exist along with the belief in the sacredness of the fertilized egg. Most Republicans just ignore these cognitive dissonances. When they do try to address them, you get bible-science nonsense like Akin’s comments. This is what they believe, or must believe, in order to hold to their egg-sacred culture. They just don’t want everyone knowing how flimsy the basis for their house-of-cards really is.

The regressive social policies of the Teabagger-Repug Party are an anathema to sensible voters. If MagicUnderwear Mitt kowtows to Goober the Huckster, he will lose the election in a landslide.

We want to answer the preacher’s question.

“Who will step up and admit the effort being made to discredit Akin and apologize for the sleazy way it’s been handled?”

Answer: Not Handout Hannocchio, Coulter, Malkin, Morris, Limbaugh, The Mitt, Pauly, Krooked Karl, and the rest of the cast of characters of the conservative movement.

The Elite Washington GOP Power Machine does not give a crap about what a two-bit preacher says on Fox “News” Channel. Hucky is irrelevant to them.

This is a perfect opportunity for the masses to call this preacher’s radio show and ask him why his colleague Hannocchio continues to bash Akin.

Write letters to the editor in Missouri newspapers reminding the masses that mouthpieces like Hannocchio and Coulter are against them.

The conservative masses have seen The Mitt’s true colors, and they are not happy. Some will not vote for him.

Coming down the pipe.

The Mitt’s bullying of Akin will cost him votes.

NOTE TO HUCKABEE

You could be the number one talk radio host if you expose Romney as a fraud and a bully. This is a snapshot of the Romney/Ryan Administration. Bullying one’s enemies and critics. Since you stuck up for Akin, you may be on Romney’s enemies list.

“This is why I think the Republicans need to stage a write-in campaign of a well know, popular Missouri Republican, someone like Kit Bond, because this selfish swine Todd Akin is going to hurt the Republican Party. We’re not only going to lose a guaranteed Republican pick up seat, unless we stage a write-in campaign.” -Ann Coulter.

Even Ann freakin’ Coulter thinks Akin is nothing but a liability in his best light. And yet, Huckabee is in his corner.

BTW, is it just me, or is Fox News being awful silent about Steve King’s comment that “He’s never heard of a woman getting pregnany from statuatory rape or incest?” I know it’s not getting nearly the attention of Akin overall, but you’d think they’d throw him in to try validating that “zero tolerance” crap.

All right!!

With all this GOP infighting, there may be a brokered convention — and, my dream of seeing Nikki Haley on the ticket as VP may come true yet!
